We are a group of children who have created a website on Hiroshima and how its citizens work for peace. As a group, we decided that we would also like to encourage world peace. We believe an effective way to teach about peace and share our feelings is to post a listserv. A listserv is a place where people from all over the world can post their feelings, drawings, or stories about a topic.
Not only can you post your own peace feelings, but also, you can read the creative work of others. Finally, you can chat about peace with other interested students. Our entire school has been invited to participate in this wonderful project. Every week, a new class will post a poem, drawing, story or other creative activity about peace on our listserv. This will not only educate people from all over the world, but it also will give you a chance to share your feelings.
In addition to this activity, you can participate in the Dogwood Initiative. The Dogwood Initiative is a project that Japan and the United States are doing together. In this project, Japan is sending us trees that are common in Hiroshima and Japan, and in return, the United States is sending dogwood trees to Japan. We encourage you both to join the listserv, and to send your dogwood seeds. We hope you will increase your commitment to world peace through our website, and that you share our cause with your friends.
