Progressive Democrats of New York, Congressional District 14 (PDNYCD14) is a local chapter of Progressive Democrats of America www.pdamerica.org and www.pdanewyork.org. Broadly stated, our goal is to change the Democratic party from the inside by supporting progressive (i.e. liberal) candidates and causes at the local, state and federal level. We also work with other peace and social justice groups to affect progressive change.

Our members generally are registered Democrats living in New York’s 14th Congressional District who support PDA's mission. We welcome those affiliated with other left wing political parties who support our efforts.

Since forming in 2006, we have established ourselves as a strong progressive voice in the New York City region. Chapter activities have included:

• Meetings with Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney including a May 19, 2008 town hall on ending funding of the war in Iraq

• Co-sponsoring a March 9, 2008 Town Hall Meeting Is Impeachment Necessary to Protect the Constitution? with AskNadler2Impeach.org

• Organizing New York City metro meetings to provide local PDA chapters a venue for organizing and interacting with fellow progressives

• Engaging guest speakers on issues such as single-payer universal healthcare, clean money, clean elections, and tax evasion by multinational corporations and wealthy individuals

• Endorsing and campaigning on behalf of U.S. Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich and U.S. Senate candidate Jonathan Tasini

• Convening a pre-election 2006 debate on political strategies for the left: Is a Progressive Democratic Party possible? with speakers from PDA, the Democratic Socialists of America, International Socialist Organization, and U.S. Senate Candidate Howie Hawkins of the Green Party
