Re: [pcusaghana] Re: Money for travel

Chuck,

The first week we are hosted by our partner presbytery completely. However, we are bringing them a monetary gift of $1000 to help compensate them. The second week we are on our own. We are renting a van from the PCG (which comes with driver). Our hotel accommodations have already been arranged and the prices set (I hope). We will take a cushion of money with us to be safe.

Bill,

When we went over last year we were housed by the Ghana Presbytery at the a Girl's School where we were working. The traveling expenses for the whole 2 weeks while we were there (through the presbytery) which included room and board were supposed to be around $2000.00. However, when we arrived this was not the case. We needed an extra $1000.00!

I would suggest that you take some extra money with you to cover (extra) expenses.

It may be helpful to visit the Ghana presbytery and ask the presbytery if they have any transporation they are willing to give you free or at a discounted rate.

We took cash and exchanged it for CDs. Don't exchange all of your money if you only take cash, because you can't change it back...

Don't know if any of this has been helpful, but I hope it has and wish you well on your trip. I know it will be a blessing.
