This group - Parents Empowered - is a list for people who believe that education, including the learning of English as a foreign language, is situated in a nexus of sociological, economic, pedagogical etc. synapses but that the importance and influence of PARENTS is decisive in successful learning. "Educate the parents first, the rest will follow" as someone famous did not say. :-) This list will encourage discussion of the most effective ways that parents can support their children's learning of English, taking the view that the establishment of local sports facilities and protected, supervised communal meeting places for the young may well be a better place to begin learning English than learning vocabulary and mastering grammar rules.
