Merry meet all. I've been a member of this group for quite some time
now but have not posted. Now, however, I find myself in a quandry and
am in need of some advice from like minded parents. My daughter is 11
yrs old & has been expressing interest in the magickal aspect of my
religion for the better part of the last year. She doesnt live with me
full time & is very involved in church at her father's house. but when
she's here she asks me to teach her about magick & I'm at a complete
loss as to how to proceed without teaching her the religious aspect as
well. truth be told i'm not sure i'm the best person to teach her.
shes not really interested in the religious side & I can't seem to
separate the magick from the religion. Any advice would be such a
blessing. I've never taught anyone except myself. I don't know how to
begin to teach her.
May love & light bless you all, Beth

PS. Please respond directly to me at kdquad2002@...

What's really scary is that an 8 yr old even swallowed some magnets and was
injured.
I have a set but I don't think i have the original box so I probably won't be

1) Child's Death Prompts Replacement Program of Magnetic Building Sets

###########################################

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 31, 2006
Release #06-127
Firm's Recall Hotline: (800) 779-7122
CPSC Recall Hotline: (800) 638-2772
CPSC Media Contact: (301) 504-7908

Child's Death Prompts Replacement Program of Magnetic Building Sets

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, in
cooperation with the firm named below, today announced a voluntary
recall of the following consumer product. Consumers should stop using
recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Name of Product: All Magnetix Magnetic Building Sets

Units: About 3.8 million

Importer: Rose Art Industries Inc., of Livingston, N.J.

Hazard: Tiny magnets inside the plastic building pieces and rods can
fall out. Magnets found by young children can be swallowed or
aspirated.
If more than one magnet is swallowed, the magnets can attract to each
other and cause intestinal perforation or blockage, which can be
fatal.
This product is unsuitable for young children.

Incidents/Injuries: CPSC is aware of 34 incidents involving small
magnets, including one death and four serious injuries. A 20-month-old
boy died after he swallowed magnets that twisted his small intestine
and
created a blockage. Three children ages ranging from 3 to 8 had
intestinal perforations that required surgery and hospitalization in
intensive care. A 5-year-old child aspirated two magnets that were
surgically removed from his lung.

Description: All Magnetix magnetic building sets including the X-treme
Combo, Micro, and Extreme sets. The sets contain 20 to 200 plastic
building pieces and 20 to 100 1/2-inch diameter steel balls. The
building pieces are red, yellow, blue and green, and are shaped in 1
1/2-inch squares, 1-inch triangles and cylinder rods. Some plastic
building pieces have "Magnetix" imprinted on them.

Sold at: Wal-Mart, Target, Toys R Us, Fred Meyer, Design Science Toys
Ltd., A.C. Moore, and other toy and arts and crafts stores nationwide.
The Magnetix magnetic building sets were sold from September 2003
through March 2006 for between $20 and $60, depending on the size of
the
set. The replacement program does not include sets at retail.

Manufactured in: China

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the magnetic sets and return the
sets to Rose Art for a free replacement product suitable for young
children under the age of 6. Consumers should be sure to keep all
small
magnet parts out of the hands of children who mouth objects,
especially
children under the age of three.

Consumer Contact: For additional information, contact Rose Art at
(800)
779-7122 between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit
Rose Art's Web site at www.roseart.com

I AM NOT ASKING FOR FINANCIAL HELP
Let me tell you a bit about myself and my family
3 years ago my two older sons got themselves in a bit of trouble and were
incarcerated for a time . They were both released here recently my oldest was
emancipated and now lives in montana and is doing well.... my youngest son after
coming home he again got himself in trouble (although not as bad) and was this
time sent to a prison like prep school so to speak... he will be coming home
soon ...
my daughter recently has had a baby (of whom I love and adore) and both live
with me and my husband.
well since the grandbaby was born in November my husband has been laid off of
work due to the weather, season etc. and I have been doing my best to pay the
bills etc. by working as a cocktail waiteress 1 day a week, cleaning a 3 story
house 1 day a week and working online for my cousin the rest of the week. I
physically am unable to have a full time job so I have been doing the best I can
with what has been offered to me....
What I am looking for is help with donations of craft supplies... I know I
can do that at home and sell the items I make easily around here (where I live )
and on the internet as I had my own craft business before I moved here and I did
very well.
I make things like woven blankets, gift baskets, dream catchers, dolls, seed
bead jewelry, incense, candles... so any help with yarns, beads, natural items
(feathers etc) would be nice....
I just want to get back on my feet again and be able to take care of my family
If anyone can possibly help please email me at either this address or my other
address.... idahowitch2000@...

This is the first year that my family is going to celebrate Samhain. I
have always wanted to but as we indulge in trick-or-treating, etc. I
NEVER have the time. I have decided that we will start celebrating
Lunar Samhain. This is the New Moon that is closest to the beginning
of November. With all of the natural connotations of the dark moon, it
is a great time to delve into Samhain that doesn't complete with
halloween. I have recently found out that the Celts celebrated Samhain
for 3 days (acording to the Coligney Calendar that was excavated from
ancient Gaul). This fits with my Lunar celebrations as the energy of a
full/new moon is said to exist a day before and after. It also doesn't
put all the onus on one day either. I am still not exactly sure what
we're doing but we have been really focusing on ancestors lately so I
am sure that will be a big theme. What do others do at this time? HAs
anyone else celebrated Lunar Samhain?

My son's school has potlucks for all the equinoxs and solstices so we
will start with a community potluck. I take the equinoxes pretty
low-key and so we try and identify what is happening to the land that
we live on during this time. We somewhat explore the idea of harvest,
but we really celebrate Lughnassadh for that. To the Celts the equinox
is a time for "putting the house in order", settling debts etc. so I
think that will be our theme this year.

Wow, I can't even imagine having a baby to tend to with my son in the
throes of 'terrible two's'...heh heh. More power to ya! ;-)

Oh, I honor my son's spirit well enough....but I also don't let him run
rampant. hehehhe. My Spirit tells his Spirit to STOP! chuckle.

As for what I'm doing to celebrate.... I must say that I have been so
involved with crap that life is throwing me that I haven't done any
celebrating in quite a while. We did go out in the rain the other day
and did a dance to 'stop' the rain. That sure got some neighbors
attention. rofl.
Right now, I just try to take my son out to be with nature. When he
turns 3, I will begin to teach him more actively.

Don't know if any of that made sense. I'm very sleepy and need more
caffeine!

Ciao for now,
Liz

Hi everyone!

It's been along time since I visited this group and I'm sorry for my
lack of participation. Too busy parenting...LOL. Since it has been so
long, I should probably re-introduce myself! I'm a pagan mom, with a
13 year old boy, a 9 year old girl and a baby on the way, which much
to our surprise was conceived at Beltaine and is due at Imbolc! We
are very excited as my husband and I did not think that we could have
another child. We homeschool our children, as we believe that the
public school system (and the world in general) teach emotional
dishonesty and that they are spiritually hostile. Currently we have
our home on the market and have sold most of our "wordly goods", as
we plan to travel the country for a few years. Our plans to leave
this fall were halted by my pregnancy. Oh well, spring is a great
time too! As my daughter used to say "All things in their own time
and seasoning." (LOL)

Well, I'll leave it there for now, as I'm close to rambling... talk
to you soon.

Blessings,
Schelley

Hey everyone,

Just thought I would share this little nugget of humor.

We had tried to put our little one into an educational cooperative.
Being Waldorf based (education focused on the arts and imagination)
we thought it would be a great way to expand her educational
experience. Little did we know...

Well, as they are focused on nurturing a child's imagination, they
tend to use a lot of fairy tales and such. They use "math gnomes" to
help with understanding... you guessed it.... math. They use
fairies and their ilk to help explain all kinds of things.

Well, our little paganling came home one day and was extremely
irritated. We asked her what the problem was and she goes "Those
people were saying 'Fairies brought this...' or 'The elves....' but
you know what? I looked and I didn't see any fairies or elves! I
can see fairies and elves and they were lying because they weren't
there!"

Needless to say my wife and I were floored with this one. As we have
actually been fairy watching, we never thought that would affect
her "schooling" as it were but sure enough our little Virgo felt
righteous indignation at what she saw as an affront to our very real
view of the Fey and all that exist in the world.

Anyone have anything like this that they would like to share?

Would love to hear from you.

Dorian

Merry Meet everyone. I thought I'd forward this email because I
ordered one of their Book of Shadows CDs awhile back and it was
awesome. Now they've got a few other CDs available as well. Anyways,
you can get yours at http://www.freecdbooks.com. They're free but you
still have to pay for shipping ($5) but it's way worth it.

Merry Part,

Barbara

Thank you for the information, Dorian! I don't have a Border Books
where I live at the moment, but I know where there is one in
Indianapolis where we plan to move to in a few years when I graduate
from UNI. That is very helpful for me to know. Thanks again.

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to share a little nugget of information with everyone.

I was in Borders Bookstore and struck up a conversation with the guy
at the cash register. He asked if one of us was a teacher and I told
him we were homeschoolers. He got all excited and kept going on
about a discount card for us. I figured it was for the one you buy a
membership for (like at Books A Million).

Turns out that they give homeschoolers the same educational discount
that they give teachers! This includes the teachers' days when
everything is an additional 10-20% off!

If you buy books like we do this could amount to some SERIOUS
discounts.

One last thing, if you can justify it, the discounts can count toward
any book you buy. Just figure out a way that you can incorporate it
into a homeschool lesson.

Well, until next time,

Dorian

Some people were suggesting we do a FAQ for the Pagan Family
Community site I am building, I thought it might be useful to gather
a list of questions asked of pagan parents from people outside the
pagan community (teachers, employers, other parents, coaches, etc...)
and together try to find creative answers for these questions....any
thoughts on this?
