Padi Nusantara (PADI) was founded as a nonprofit in San Francisco on June 26th, 2003, and has been approved by the IRS as a 501(c) (3) tax-exempt. PADI positions itself as a group that is actively involved in various social educational missions. We believe that education is the most fundamental requirement for any successful society. Outside of Indonesia, PADI hopes to act as a goodwill ambassador conducting fundraising activities that introduce the great cultural riches of the Indonesian heritage and promote a good image of Indonesia in the International arena.

PADI proactively seek to form strategic alliances with other organizations and individuals who share PADI’s vision and mission.

Primary Target:
- Underprivileged-children, especially age 7-15;
- Orphans, deprived, and street children in Indonesia’s inner cities and any other fellows from other parts of Indonesia who will benefit from the opportunities that PADI will offer;
- Female children whose opportunity for basic education is often overlooked due to traditional societal’s belief that girls do not need to be educated.

Objectives:
- Help underprivileged Indonesian children have formal education;
- Help poor, underprivileged out-of-school children have improved basic education opportunities through access to quality reading materials and reading assistance in English and Indonesian;
- Help in-school and out-of-school children develop a love of reading;
- Help in-school and out-of-school children become aware of the improved educational and employment opportunities that are available to those who read;
- Help to fight poverty and improve economic conditions for low-income Indonesian families;
- Help to provide a relatively equal opportunity for learning to children of all backgrounds;
- Help to improve the literacy rate in Indonesia.
