Description

oscholarship

is the discussion list and announcement companion to OSCHOLARS - a group of electronic journals dedicated to scholarly information and ideas about the writers and artists of the fin-de-siècle (broadly speaking, 1880-1910), notably Oscar Wilde, George Bernard Shaw, James McNeill Whistler, George Moore, Vernon Lee, Michael Field and John Ruskin. Latterly we have been developing modules on the visual arts, late Victorian Gothic, the New Woman, and the fin-de-siècle in Italy. All are housed at www.oscholars.com. As well as submissions, we welcome information on all aspects of the fin-de-siècle, including CfPs and news of publications.

'Hits' on our site from 1st January 2008 to 31st October 2009 were well over 600,000.

We also host the website of the Conference 'The Reception of Oscar Wilde in Europe', Trinity College, Oxford, in March 2008. The pages we created then are being developed to complement the forthcoming volume of the same name.

While anyone can view posts to oscholarship, posting facilities are limited to subscribers. We welcome your comments and announcements of your own research, publications or papers on the period 1880-1910: use the subject line with precision.

We exercise strict control over messages, and you will not receive any information about strange practices, bogus products or imaginary wealth. Messages are also moderated for relevance, and must not include 'tails' of previous messages.

For alerts for one or other of our journals, e-mail oscholars@gmail.com, attaching the application form in the 'FILES' reached from the left hand column on this page. You need to sign in to have access to this.

You MUST supply your full name: we do not accept anonymous membership or postings. We would also welcome a line or two about who you are (our first line of defence against spammers).
