Merry New Year, and thanks for supporting ORBzine for the last Decad   Message List

We're well into January 2009. The New Years celebrations are over -
but that's no reason to stop celebrating. ORBzine, the much-loved Sci-
Fi & Fantasy Webzine ( http://www.orb-store.com/zine ), was launched
ten years ago this month! It doesn't seem like it, but the 'zine has
been churning out articles, interviews and reviews for a full decade.
In fact, this month we can also celebrate the fact that ORBzine now
includes a THOUSAND movie reviews (not counting book reviews, TV show
write-ups or anything else). This makes the site a regular
encyclopaedia of SF&F, with hundreds of pages that took years to
complete.

For anyone who's interested, the original first edition of ORBzine
(the same content with updated HTML) is available at
http://www.orb-store.com/zine/990120.htm

Other Sci-fi & Fantasy news ...

OctoCon (October 2008), the annual Irish National SF&F Convention,
was as much fun as ever. The Irish Mensa team competed in the Quiz,
and was narrowly defeated by the QUB Sci-Fi Society from Belfast.
For anyone who's interested, OctoCon offers a special discount to
Mensans who book via Irish Mensa. For more info, contact
webmasterAtmensaDOTie

Studio NI's first movie night (September 2008) was a rip-roaring
success. The society is now hosting a Sci-Fi & Fantasy Movie night at
Blick Studios in Belfast on Sunday 22nd February 2009. Details here:
http://www.orb-store.com/studio

Good luck, and MTFBWY!
:)
