The Opening Statement and Jury Argument E-Discussion FORUM, sponsored by the Center for Criminal Justice Advocacy (CCJA), is an information exchange group for students registered in Professor Moses' SPRING 2008 "Opening and Closing" course.
This group site will allow us to do several things, including:
1. Exchange critiques of one another's classroom performances of openings and closings.
2. Post analytical reviews of various assigned transcripts containing opening statements and jury arguments by skilled prosecutors and defenders.
3. Exchange sample openings and arguments as well as tips and tactics for opening and closing.
Only students registered for the course may participate in the FORUM. Critiques of Trial Story performances should be posted by 6:00 p.m. on the Sunday following the performance. Other writing assignments should be posted as indicated by deadlines on the course syllabus. Do not use the reply feature unless you delete the message to which you are replying. Otherwise, replies take up too much space with redundant information.
Before watching your Trial Story performances on streaming video at http://stream.stcl.edu, read your colleagues' posted critiques of your performance. Keep copies of the critiques you write and place them in your work product file, along with any other unposted out-of-class writings that you did in preparation for the weekly assignments.
Anyone who has lost track of what written assignments s/he has filed may simply consult the messages contained on the message archive of this O&C e-discussion site. This FORUM serves as a three year archive of all filings by date, time, and person.
NOTE: Attachments to email messages sent to the group are not allowed due to the threat of viruses. It is relatively easy to cut and paste as needed.
