Social Enterprise Pitch: Present at GH/Innovate 2010

Do you have an innovative idea? Are you working to develop a new program or organization? Submit your social enterprise pitch for presentation at GH/Innovate 2010.

GH/Innovate 2010 will include special sessions where selected participants will present their new idea in the format of a 5-minute social enterprise pitch. Following the pitch, there is a 5-minute period for questions and answers, as well as feedback from the audience. This will provide participants with an opportunity to formulate and present their idea, collaborate and network with others interested in their idea, and receive feedback and ideas from other conference participants.

Rolling submission deadline. The first qualified social enterprise pitches will be accepted.
The idea can be in the brainstorming stage, or in the early implementation stage.
The social enterprise pitch should be program-focused in the area of global health, social innovation and entrepreneurship, international development, international education, or NGOs and community-based programs.

Unite For Sight has been featured weekly on CNN International and in The New York Times

Unite For Sight is the world's leader in socially responsible, effective volunteering abroad. Unite For Sight's Global Impact Corps is an immersive global health experience for students and for professionals. All volunteers participating in Unite For Sight's international programs are Global Impact Fellows. They participate daily with local ophthalmic nurses, local optometrists, and local ophthalmologists to support and assist the clinic in outreach programs that reduce all of the barriers to health care, including financial, transportation and education barriers.

Through hands-on, structured training, fellows gain a comprehensive understanding about best practices in volunteerism, global health, and international development. Global Impact Fellows gain skills and are nurtured to become new leaders in global health. Additionally, Global Impact Fellows may participate in the Global Impact Lab, an optional program for fellows interested in pursuing global health research.

My name is Jeff from Indiana. I have been at same employer for 7 years and when I was told I have HIV in June 2006, I was put on Atripla and paid a co-pay of $35 a month! My employer recently switched Insurance plans from Principal to Group Administrators, Ltd in Illinois to save the company money! Atripla as of July 1st is now classified as a 4th tier and you have to pay 25% of the cost of the med! I was able to get a Atripla card for up to $200 off the co-pay of $447 at Walgreens. I want everyone with hiv / aids to know that companies are looking for cheaper ways to cut cost and might be offered this 4th tier from insurance companies! I am NOT talking about Ryan White, Medicare, Medicaid, ADAP, or any program as I work and make too much money to qualify for those programs. Also if your employer offers insurance, you are automatically cut off in Indiana for assistance! If we do have an overhaul of our healthcare in United States, we need to consider revamping this aspect of HIV drug co-pays with 4th tier level! I am currently working with my employer human resource management to change this policy but I had to tell my employer I have HIV. They are proposing a cap on the amount I pay for drugs on 4th tier! Not everyone will be this fortunate!

We have over 30,000 friends and 60,000 hits worldwide on MySpace and we have campouts & events for gay and straight adults here in the United States! I think it is fitting that we let the world know there is still no cure for HIV / AIDS and we support everyone around the world - even here in the United States! HIV meds have NOT gotten cheaper here in the United States and they keep cutting our benefits! HIV med Atripla cost $1,700 for 30 pills here in the United States! We can't continue to have rising HIV infection rates and decrease funding for HIV / AIDS services! This coming World AIDs Day - Dec 1st - remember we have a lot of work to do!

Dear Members of ONE,
Caryn West, ONE supporter and Human Rights activist has completed her
book on Human Rights abuses called "The Trouble with the Alphabet" It
is a visionary project designed to shake the complacency out of those
who are inactive, and educate those who are unaware. A journey into
the heart of human rights violations that uses children to cut
through the rhetoric, art and prose to pierce the heart and soul, and
the sometimes uncomfortable truth to drive home the urgency. It then
leads you to the Non-Governmental organizations that provide ways to
get involved�to lead each person from apathy to activism. It is an
art based book project that helps support 25 non-governmental
organizations through its sales. Check out the video that provides a

The projects official launch is at the Ditto Gallery in Denver CO on
October 24th. The Ditto Gallery is a socially driven Art venue that
has hosted ONE events in the past and is currently home to "Exhibit

exhibit is free of charge.  We encourage anyone that would like to
