Welcome!
The Olympus Beach Mailing List was created by a group of neighbors in response to the realization that we don't see enough of one another. This is inexcusable since we have a great deal in common and have very real shared concerns unique to this wooded corner of Bainbridge Island, including disaster preparation, safety, kids and family, and so on.
Keeping the whole community connected
In addition to this list, volunteers have assembled an addressbook for all neighbors, including phone numbers and street addresses, so that we can all be informed about neighborhood safety initiatives and other issues. This addressbook is distributed directly to neighbors from time to time.
What can we write to the list about?
Post topics of interest to folks in the immediate vicinity. Some examples include:
* Safety concerns (e.g. I've seen a blue Honda driving slowly down the street multiple times now and am wondering if they're "casing" homes).
* Announcements of events
* Contractor recommendations
* Other discussion (but keep it civil and remember that it should be relevant to the group!)
If you're not sure what you have to say is relevant to the group, direct your replies to the personal email address of the person you wish to reply to - rather than the whole list.
Live, in the flesh events and organizing are encouraged!
Let's have block parties and get together at each other's homes around issues of interest: safety, children, community wells, trees, water, etc.
Who can join?
This is a neighborhood list for those with homes on Olympus Beach or west of Battle Point Drive between Tolo and Olympus Beach on Bainbridge Island, WA. When signing up, please indicate your name, phone number and street address for the list manager.
