"Old Style" = GENUINE Drum & Bugle Corps - dedicated to the proposition that the defined genre was, is & will be always DRUM & BUGLE CORPS.
The 1971 Lynwood Diplomats were at the 1971 American Legion Championships in Houston, Texas. This season was one of the best - from the standpoint of the members, the inspiration of a musical fraternity drenched in the history of a military & patriotic activity. Whether speaking about the Diplomats individually, or about drum corps at large - 1971 being "the Year Drum Corps Died" due to the severing of relations with the VFW and the formation of the Combine, precursor to DCI - we did not know the threats looming.
All such aspects have been paradigms in the proud & not-so-proud history of our genuine activity. This group is for people who wish to speak truthfully & accountably about our history, our present & our future.
More & more, people will value the truth of what has been allowed to happen to & within our beloved activity. More people will value what is necessary to REBUILD an again proud & vibrant activity like no other, for its own sake & for the sake of the best of us, as was given to us in trust.
Membership in OSBC is open to corpsmembers & fans of classic drum & bugle corps - those interested in discussion of history & tradition, in pride & honor, in the here & now, and finding like-minded souls with whom to share & serve.
