This is one of the coolest short film I have seen in a while. I loved everything about it. Makes me want to do a story along these lines.

I'm thankful there is a group like this.  I have been collecting OTR via the Internet since 1998 and via mail-order distributors since the mid-eighties.  I look forward to participating in the discussions in this group.

I'm interested in acquiring complete copies of the wonderful CD series on World War II produced some years ago by KM99.  I invite anyone who has information on whether and whence they may still be available to share it with me and the group.  Thanks in advance for any info any of you may have.

Hi Gordon,

I was always a Karloff Fan, but the reason this question came up was that I
contributed a little Karloff related OTR post to celebrate this week's Boris
Karloff Blogathon that more than 100 blogs are participating in. My own post can
be found at:
http://hammerandbeyond.blogspot.com/2009/11/boris-karloff-on-radio.html and the
question of this episode came up. Feel free to check out the post and send me
any corrections that may come your way as a lot of you guys here are way more
knowledgeable about OTR than I am.

As for the Gold Key comics: Well, they are something I always wanted to have, so
you sure raised my curiosity though I have a sneaky suspicion that they may be
out of my price range right now, but do feel free to send me an email to
holger.haase @ gmail.com

All the best
Holger

Hi everyone,

I am currently researching this episode with Boris Karloff: The
Fleischmann's Yeast Hour: "Death Takes a Holiday" (October 11, 1934)

According to Jerry Haendige's radio logs -
http://www.otrsite.com/logs/logr1022.htm - this is "Incomplete-missing
parts: 1,2,3,7,8,9"

Does anyone know whether the existing parts feature Karloff? Also,
does anyone have this and would be able to share with me?

Thanks
Holger

I sort of liked the voice, some of the humor went over my head, maybe as corny as my jokes.

The patter sound good, but a little rushed. A little slower, with strategic pauses would be helpful.

Dick Private's voice sounds like a 6-pack a day, 30 year smoker. a little less gravel in the voice would be helpful.

Well....
First of all, hats off to the Third Coast Live Radio Theater for doing this. Radio "drama" still lives!
The satire reminds me a bit of "Chickenman." Absurd, pointless, but amusing and entertaining.
I especially liked "Dick Private Universe." The line: "She's the kind of person who brings joy to a room, whenever she leaves" (or something to that effect) is great. I don't know if it is original, but it destined for my repertoire.
The voices are fine, in my estimation. Just fitting the satiric element.
I don't know if the show would go over so well as serious detective drama nowadays. Better as satire. Richard Diamond and such like were meant as satire, too, I believe. Johnny Dollar perhaps not.
Anyway, that's my opinion.
Vince

John,

In your opinion should the show be kept a spoof of the 40's hard boiled detective shows or would it be better as a genuine 40's style hard boiled detective show?

I've checked that one and that's not it. This one also has a cute segment with Digger O'Dell trying to talk Riley into joining the Undertaker's Embalmers and Pallbearers Glee Club.  I don't know the date. That's why I'm trying to find it.
