Description
This group is for discussion of all things Catholic, from a conservative Old Catholic view. Churches these days seem to be struggling for cultural relevance. Towards that goal many churches are abandoning traditional moral teachings in favor of a culturally sensitive polemic. I view our challenge in the 21st century, as "conservative" Old Catholics is to be socially sensitive, while maintaining doctrinal positions that are essential to the practice of our faith.
The term conservative means different things to various people. What does it mean to be conservative, in a Catholic context? Conservatism is primarily a personal perspective. I consider myself a conservative, but others might consider me a moderate (I believe that women have had an historic role in the ordained ministry). I would be interested in hearing your opinions on just what it means to be conservative, as well as how we as conservatives can maintain relevance in today's culture.
Members of this forum are generally conservatively minded Old Catholics. However membership is open to anyone interested in our topics of conversation. Conservative Old Catholics generally allign their doctrine to follow the spirit of the Declaration of Utrecht, including the Rule of Faith of St. Vincent of Lerins, ascribe to the 1st Seven Ecumenical Councils of the primative and undivided Church, are pro-life, and have a traditional understanding of human sexuality.
This site is generally un-moderated. However, please do not post any links on this site to liberal churches or liberal organizations. Links to Internet only Churches will not be accepted as well. All such postings will be deleted without notice or warning. Also Christian charity, love, and respect is expected at all times.
