Oklahoma Disability Law Center (ODLC) is Oklahoma's protection and advocacy system for people with disabilities, including developmental disabilities and mental illness. Since 1977, ODLC has helped individuals with disabilities achieve equality, inclusion in society and personal independence without regard to disabilities.
ODLC's mission is to protect, promote and expand the rights of people with disabilities. The ODLC mission reflects a belief that people with disabilities are entitled to be treated with dignity and respect; to be free from abuse, neglect and exploitation and discrimination. The ODLC mission also reflects the belief that people with disabilities are entitled to equal rights and to equally effective access to the same opportunities as are afforded to other members of society.
ODLC is one of Oklahoma's Redlands Partners, all of which are funded and coordinated nationally through the U. S. Administration for Developmental Disabilities. Their webpage is http://www.redlands-partners.org.
ODLC sponsors a training program, Partners in Education Advocacy (PEA). The program's website is http://www.peapods.us. The "news" and "resources" section are useful for anyone interested in educational issues.
