Where did our family come from? That is the most common question that we as researchers have. This list is meant for anyone who is interested in genealogy in the State of Ohio. We are all here looking for information to guide us on our family trees and take down some of our brick walls and share genealogical information on our ancestors.
This list is an "email chat list" and information about different families and time frames are being posted. You can post anything such as obits, queries, bios, etc. you never know what information might be out there to assist you.
When you become a member you will also have access to the databases containing: SURNAMES/ VOLUNTEERS TO DO LOOKUPS/ WEBSITES for RESEARCH/ BIRTHS/ DEATHS/ MARRIAGES. Members are free to add to most databases. You can also post information via the list.
PLEASE ALWAYS INCLUDE YOUR GIVEN NAME or INTIALS on ANY POSTINGS to the OHGen list. This ensures that the researcher providing genealogical information is able to return valuable knowledge and facts to the correct requestor.
Periodically we will have a roll call initiated by the moderator or owner. At that time you can share your surnames and locations you are researching with the group. Please refrain from asking for roll calls at other times. In this large of a group, roll calls are only effective if we notify members in advance so their mailboxes are not overloaded by the roll call emails. We also ask that all members who do not wish to recieve daily or digest mail change their delivery to "special notices" so they will be notified of the roll calls. Thanks for your cooperation!
