I saw this on the tv this morning. There is something going on, class
action suit? group getting together to fight the makers?
It was talking about the side effects and dangers of these drugs. I'm
not sure of the whole content though as I missed some of it.
If you OR your children have ever taken:
Zyprexa or Serquel
You NEED to call this number: 1-800-bad drug
Whomever calls, if you could update the group on what it's all about it
would be appreciated.

Just some thoughts. Perhaps of a little use to some, not all.
**My 9 year old daughter has ODD/ADHD.
25% with ADHD have some mood issue or anxiety also.
**The doctor told us ODD was situational
You do not think this rings true and your comments make sense that it is primary
or secondary ADHD "when she was a baby she was hyper and defiant." Though we
like to see some at 4 y/o to be more sure.
**she is adopted could also play a role.
We find that adoption can play a medical role and perhaps not the psychological
issue he is mentioning. It can be both. But we have found very rare stool
cultures with parasites and other small and fixable medical things including
Bartonella and other infections that are not tested for in the USA. (I am
assuming not a USA birth. I could be wrong.) Also, a solid child psychiatrist
will be able to squeeze some insights out of sparse info on the blood parents.
**We have moved allot since she was 5.
But you sound like you lover her tons and that matters. Some children have 10
moves in 10 years and they start to feel they have no place and the affection
needs to be increased and connections to stable relatives by phone, cards,
etc......
**all this defiance and hyperactivity was new to me.
It is fully treatable if they do not miss anything medical like indoor mold
mycotoxins or other things. The best is getting solid physical stuff in place
and then some structured material on how to discipline. In one talk we did the
secondary causes of ADHD and ODD were over 110 things. Yet I do believe in
genetic ADHD/ADD also.
**For awhile we played the "we must be doing something wrong for her to be
acting this way."
Good. Unless sever abuse this is usually false guilt. Glad looking past the
standard--blame loving parent(s).
**We finally found a doctor who didnt recommend another natural cure but this
doctor actually told us we werent nuts.
I love the natural options and design them, but the facts are in my practice we
rarely see nutrients act as cures. They sure help the blood work we do turn mild
deficiencies to healthy levels, and that sure counts.
**Well by this time I think I was nuts.
Funny. It sure can toast the best parents to toast, huh?
**My daughter is on wellbutrin xl 150 for the ODD and concerta 27mg for the
ADHD. I am going to try to wean her off of the wellbutrin
actually, this is not a high dose and the doc might want to test her wellbutrin
blood level at some point with other testing. If she has low grade irritability
with ADHD the concerta will burn out acting as an antidepressant, and then you
will not be in a good place. We wrote the paper on how to treat irritable
depression, anxiety and ADHD. Treat in that order. Mood, then ADHD.
Perhaps some child Nordic natural omega 3 only, a small NAC--perhaps in tiny veg
caps that are empty to protect the liver 2x a week and I would not think will be
an issue.
**1 drug in her little body is enough.
Yes, but if she has an irritable mood from this sub-type of depression she will
lose the benefit of the stimulant over time.
I sincerely wish you many happy years with this precious little girl!
Best,
Dr. J

Hi All,
My name is Karen, I live in Melbourne, Australia. Not sure where
this group is based, but would be interested to know if this is a
worldwide problem!! I have a 6 year old son who was diagnosed with
ODD 2 years ago now and has been under psychiatric care since the
age of 2. Needless to say, the past 4 years have been very trying.
Mr C. is about to embark on his 2nd year of school tomorrow, and I
am terrified! I had never seen the inside of a school principals'
office until last year when both myself and Mr C. were regular
visitors. I've read all the books, done all the parenting classes
and tried all of the natural remedies all with limited success. I
have not tried any synthetic medications and am hoping that it won't
come to that. I guess at this stage I am just looking for someone
to say "I know how you feel". I have found support very limited in
my area and don't know any other children or parents with the same
problem. Mr C's school had not even heard of ODD until he started.
Trust me, they know all about it now!!
Any tips or suggestions on dealing with other parents who have
singled us out. My son has never been invited to a birthday party
nor has he been invited to any other child's house to play.
Invitations to our house are usually declined. Naturally as a
mother this is heartbreaking. I have an 11 year old daughter who is
the perfect student and popular with her peers. Why??
Karen
Thank you for that suggestion. I will be buying that book asap. I have found a
great book called Skill Training for Children with Behavior problems by Michael
L Bloomquist. I have started utilizing some of the suggestions and I am hoping
that in time it will work.

The "stigma" on being labled as different.
The schools says its no big deal, but the kids know who the "special "
counselors
are. My son meets with his "special" counselor in the school library.
"Tell them you need help with reading / homework" he says.
"Just don't let the kids find out why I'm really talking to her" he says.
I just breaks your heart that the other kids can be so unkind.
Kids often are aware of more than some adults give them credit for.
You wouldn't think elementary school student would be so worried about their
image / social status, but they are.
Nobody wants to be thought of as "different".

Try providing her with a choice in whatever the situation is. Make sure the
choices are within reason and directly apply to the situation. This should help

Hi~
What is Liquid Health Attn? I have never heard of it? Where do you get it and
how much is it?(expensive or no?)
I have heard of the dairy stuff but, Sadly I am addicted to milk (fat free)
and so is my 5 yr old Katelynn doesn't drink much of it...
So from those who are experienced as far as going dairy to non-dairy i'd be
interested to hear why and how did it make a difference
I swear I just can't STOP DRINKING IT....LOL
I have given up alot including the fast food, chips, crackers, anything in a
can... soda, etc etc...caffiine (which sadly helped MY ADD alot and I do miss
that! so sometimes if I am still really feeling off I will have a cup of coffee)
we are now mostly eating whole grains and whole foods as much as possible
....harder during the school year as life seems so much more rushed......but we
are really working at it
and I am drawing a complete blank on Nitrates like I know I SO KNOW THAT
but.....................duh like one of thos ethings if I hadn't stopped to
think about it , it would come to me....
and Canida cleanse?
Thanks guys!
Maria
....I read a book years ago something on yeast and the woman or something ..I
should read it again...It really talked alot about all this stuff.......and now
that I really am trying to get our entire family into healthier eating and
living I am trying to find out all I can.....
I am so ready to be done when ever possible with western meds and the side
effects.....so wherever I can x it out and find something natural that helps I
am all for it!

Hi Dar! I can't believe I forgot to mention Liquid Health Attention. I'm
usually such a huge fan of the stuff and I forgot all about it in our natural
remedies talk. Anyway, maybe that means I should be taking it, too! :) It's
omega 3s, B vitamins, calcium and magnesium and it makes a HUGE difference in my
5 year old. We ran out of it and within a week his teacher was asking me what
was going on different at home, that Brady had regressed so much. The stuff has
made me a complete believer, where I was a total skeptic.

Your right about the calcuim, always check with your dr for what dose
to give a child.
Here are some GOOD things to help adults and children:
1.) Daily Vitamin (think we talked about this before)
2.) Garlic
3.) Candida cleanse
4.) Omega-3's
Things to stay away from:
1.) NO FAST FOOD (This means even the chicken and mexican places)
2.) NO Nitrates
3.) NO Dairy
4.) NO Artifical Sweetners
Hope this helps!

Cathy, Hello! Sorry I have not been around much. I'm out of town
visiting at relatives and just popped in to say hello and to see what
was going on around here.
Your right about the calcuim, always check with your dr for what dose
to give a child.
Here are some GOOD things to help adults and children:
1.) Daily Vitamin (think we talked about this before)
2.) Garlic
3.) Candida cleanse
4.) Omega-3's
Things to stay away from:
1.) NO FAST FOOD (This means even the chicken and mexican places)
2.) NO Nitrates
3.) NO Dairy
4.) NO Artifical Sweetners
Hope this helps!

I'd love to have a transcript if you can point me to an URL that has it--I got
this at 10:30PM Pacific so it was way too late to participate.
However the topics sound great!
If you have a link (if there is one!) could you post it? I'd be very interested!
Thanks!

Thank you Cathy
It has not been too bad actually, at least not as bad as I had suspected it
would be but it would be nice to try some of these when she is hyper etc
actually caffine calms her down(adhd thing..) but I had forgotten about it
till you said caffine free!~ DUH Me!
I am wondering if the seroquel made her worse in some aspects
I def think it made her rages worse
The clinic we are working on getting her into specializes in SID and said if
she does indeed have it its not treated with drugs so I am interested in finding
out what they do
I just hope we will finally have some answers one way or another as they work
with all the other disoreders too so hopefully we will finally get a diagnosis
She gets overwhelmed so easily and so easily frustrated that I have been able
head off alot of her episodes lately by being able to see them coming and
removing the frustration or her from the source
It certainly helps too that we all have our own rooms to go to now whereas
before when we were staying with friends it was a tiny 1.5 bedroom 700 sq ft
condo and we were all climbing the walls!
Its certainly helping too that I am not worn out and run down like i was
before........how long tho this will last????????
HA!
That is the question of the day for me! :)
(seriously though I am much more aware of my need to take care of me this time
around so that I don't get run down!)
Thanks again!

Damn, it has sure been a while... I just realized today that it's been 18
months since I went out with a special lady last, but I'm pretty happy to be
heading out tonight. I've had a bit of trouble finding ANY decent women lately
so I joined up at this place a couple of weeks ago
http://www.matchfunhere.info/pyww . And so far been doing pretty well, just
chatting to a few girls near me on Webcam and via the mail system on the place,
but this is the first one I've lined up. So anyway, wish me luck guys!!

Hi,
My name is Natasha and I am a Special Education teacher. I teach middle
school. I have a 6 year old son that is on the verge of being tested
for ODD or ADHD (whichever they decide). I want to know from all the
parents- What are some of the biggest concerns you and your child has
had to face while progressing through school?
Thanks for your thoughts.
Natasha
This might be of use. Talks about 100 causes and 100 solutions to OD and
dysinhibited children and adolescents.... Some new material like testing MSH
and VIP at Labcorp. Bartonella which is very common and never tested for.
Mycotoxins in 30% of structures.....
