A discussion forum for New Zealand Deaf and all their friends.

There are no limits to the boundaries and scope of this group. Anything may be posted; notices, alerts, search queries, and contact information.

We envision a community will spring up on this listserv, bringing the wide variety of New Zealand Deaf and their helpers, friends, and other interested people into contact with one another.

This community will be enabled to form an unified front, a consolidated presence. This will particularly prove invaluable over the issues of being Deaf in New Zealand. These issues include access to telecommunications services, such as the long-awaited teletype relay service, fax-access, etc.

Also: the recognition and use of NZSL, the pros & cons of Oral versus Total, Sign language modes of education. The effects of Cochlear implants on the Deaf community are issues which should be discussed.
