I receive many event announcements around the beginning of every month, and even more around the beginning of a new year.  I just completed another major update of the Calendar of Events at http://www.lcorncalen.com/CAL-OHIO.htm with the information I recently received. Since I don’t have the time to list all of the paid workshops, etc, the calendar lists mostly events that do not charge for admission, as well as major festivals.  Many other excellent events that charge a fee are also happening.  Follow the links in the Calendar to the free events and find out about many more events.

Speaking of events that don’t charge for admission, let’s organize a major gathering this September.  Towards that end, below is a draft agenda for the next Greater Cleveland Area Pagan Pride Day (PPD) Planning Meeting.  Please join us at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GrClevePPD and attend our planning meetings.  Below is a draft agenda for the next PPD planning meeting.

DRAFT AGENDA FOR 7 PM SUNDAY 1/10/10

GREATER CLEVELAND AREA PAGAN PRIDE DAY (PPD) PLANNING MEETING

7pm Sunday 1/10/2010 @664 Broadway Ave, Bedford, OH (Spirit Apothecary)

7:00        Informal discussion of agenda, meeting format & coordination.

Find volunteer meeting facilitator, recorder (secretary), vibeswatcher

7:05        Attunement - Link hands with arms crossed and intone ALOO

7:07        Welcome and general introductions

*        Participants say who they are, affiliations, why interested in PPD, and how can help

*        Pass around sign up sheet

*        Discuss and finalize agenda

7:12        Minutes of last meeting

7:17        Reports from Volunteers

*        Larry Cornett: PPD Coordinator- (Publicity, feedback on location and local politics, correspondence from National, e-mail list, ADF, Legal Adv., public square and Guardian Angels)

*        Aoirthoir: Webmaster, pre-paid legal

*        Max Stead: Liaison to Akron/Canton

*        Tannin: Security & Children’s Programming

*        Seeker: Research on CSU and North Olmstead UU as potential location for PPD

7:27        Discuss/Decide PPD Location and Date(s) -- 9/11 &/or 9/12

7:37        Determine when and where to have the next organizational meeting(s)

<Do we want to continue meeting at 7pm Sunday evening, or would some other times and dates be better?  If Sunday evenings at 7pm are good, considering astrological aspects and festivals that I have dates for so far, potential Greater Cleveland Area Pagan Pride Day planning meeting dates include:

2/7, 3/7, 4/11, 5/9/, /6/6, 6/27, 7/25, 8/8, 8/15, 8/22, 8/29 and 9/5 for Greater Cleveland Area Pagan Pride Day organizing meetings. >

7:42        Determine Charity that PPD will support <<the Guardian Angels is one possibility, any other suggestions?>

7:45        Re-consideration of affiliating with the National Pagan Pride Inc

8:00        Pass Hat and Determine Next Stage(s) of Publicity/Outreach (Fliers, Website, Bulk e-mail, etc)

Notes:   Self sufficency energy healing: Folks who learn this can use it anywhere like around a campfire to help stop the itch of a mosquito bite, some reduce or get rid of migraines, etc; & heal yourself! Look at Geroge Harrison. He had compassion for others & was/is a devotee of Krishna. IMHO he would've liked a Krishna Reiki/Pranic Healing/ Prayer group. Usually its highly priced to learn the secrets of this type of healing. However, would you like to learn it FREE? Check us out. We're not for everyone. See if we're a good fit for you.

I just completed a major update of the Calendar of Events at http://www.lcorncalen.com/CAL-OHIO.htm, including Pagan and other interesting events for which I have information, along with the dates, times and selected astrological aspects of full moons, new moons, and Sabbats for 2010

In addition, so far, at least 31 greater Cleveland area stores, groups, and individuals that organize or help organize Pagan events have expressed an interest in participating in a Greater Cleveland Area Pagan Pride Day (PPD) -- currently scheduled for September 11, and possibly September 12, 2010.

Our next Pagan Pride Day organizing meeting is scheduled for 7pm Sunday January 10, 2010 at Spirit Apothecary, at 664 Broadway Ave in Bedford. On the agenda will be:

*        The results of research on potential venues for a Greater Cleveland Area Pagan Pride Day September 11 and possibly September 12, 2010. Key venues currently under consideration include:

Cleveland State University (because of its central location), and

The Unitarian Universalist Church at 5050 Porter Road in North Olmstead (because it may be available for free, has a field and small forest available for camping, as well as indoor facilities)

(Public Square was rejected because of security, bureaucracy, and other concerns)

*        Re-consideration of affiliating with the National Pagan Pride Inc, based on information received from the current regional coordinator and others

*        Publicity

*        Cooperating and coordinating with the Akron Mabon Pagan Pride event scheduled for September 18 & 19 (the next weekend), and other PPD events (including a possible Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula PPD being considered by the Stone Creed Grove of ADF and others)

*        The possibility of arranging for nationally known speakers at PPD events if we can help with arrangements to make it worth their while

*        Organizational issues (Decisions are made by consensus when possible or a 2/3 majority if necessary, but other details will need to be worked out -- including a potential role of our e-mail list in decision-making, and measures necessary to protect the responsibilities of an organization operating under 501 (c) (3) tax exempt status)

*        Fundraising (Raffles, auctions of donated goods, donations, fundraising events, etc.)

*        Perhaps organizing other events

*        Finding qualified volunteers to take on key responsibilities making PPD happen, handle its finances openly and responsibly, etc.

*        Where and when we meet next (suggested venues that can easily handle 40 or more participants would be appreciated)

Unless we can find a good central location, I expect that our meeting locations will vary, to encourage participation by people in various parts of the greater Cleveland area.

If you want to help, please also join the Greater Cleveland PPD Yahoogroup at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/GrClevePPD.  While all current members are highly public, some Pagans are still quite private about their religious practices.  As a result, the Yahoogroup is set up so that only the list moderator (me) has access to the list of subscribers (but it will be available to a co-moderator when we select one). Only subscribers have direct access to messages posted to the Yahoogroup, list files, etc.  The only public information in the Yahoogroup is its homepage. People can subscribe to individual e-mails, a daily digest, or web access only.  They can also choose to be more public by registering on the site’s database

Thanksgiving Council 2009 Notes for Gathering 2010

'Now join your hands, and with your hands your hearts.' - William
Shakespeare (1564-1616)

Thanksgiving Council
Rainbow Noon
November 28, 2009
Hedgesville, West Virginia

Approx. 30 individuals

Om Circle

Feather is passed and individuals make introductions and Heartsong.

-----------------------------------------------------

Council on Bank and Mailbox:

Discussion on concern about transparency and accountability of bank.

Consensus: NY Rainbow will hold the bank and setup a PayPal account
for Gathering 2010 until Spring Council
NY Rainbow Post Office Box will be used for Postal Mail concerning
Gathering 2010 until Spring Council
A Banking Council comprised of three experienced individuals from the
NYC/NJ area, Bob from the Ovens, Joanee and Rick Purpleboy will handle
the off-season bank and Gathering Mail until Spring Council. Other
individuals can be added as advisers and/or observers. Green Energy
sent by Postal Mail will be transferred via NY Rainbow's account to
the Rainbow Gathering PayPal account.

------------------------------------------------------

Scout Rendezvous Date:

Discussion on date and location of Scout Rendezvous addressed the
large area consensed upon, on the land, at Vision Council in New
Mexico, comprising the states of New Hampshire, Vermont,
Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, North Carolina and Tennessee
and the logistics of this scouting effort. Council rejected
suggestions of abridging or eliminating certain states from being
scouted.

Consensus: Scout Rendezvous will be April 1, 2010 at the southern end
of that range of states at a location consensed upon by individuals
involved in scouting.

Council expressed it's confidence in the individuals scouting and it's
trust in their judgment. Council also called for greater
participation in scouting by individuals in those states consensed
upon. Individuals interested in exploring the forest can leave
contact info on the following lightline: 908-I-Gather (442-8437).

-------------------------------------------------------

Spring Council Date:

Discussion on concerns about "seed camp" and "holding camp" involved
speculation that an early "holding camp" could bring negative energy
to the local areas ahead of the gathering. This raises social and
environmental questions for the upcoming gathering. In addition, with
such a possible broad range of sites, over 1000 miles end to end,
there is a concern that a large holding camp in one region may draw
energies away from better sites in another region Also expressed was
the need for a timely site announcement to accommodate for long
distance travel plans.

Consensus: Spring Council June 4 - 6, 2010 at a location to be
determined by consensus of individuals involved in scouting.

--------------------------------------------------------

Rainbow Press Crew:

The Council suggested that the individuals calling themselves the
"Rainbow Press Crew" revise their identity.

There is a key problem with the name: Calling it "Rainbow" Press Crew
implies that it is connected to or an ongoing function of the
(alleged) "Rainbow Family" as an organized group entity, and this
compromises the gatherings. "Rainbow Legaliaison" was abolished in
1994 for the same reason. It was understood that this media
initiative comes from a voluntary collective or affinity group that is
independent, operating 'in the world' and outside the gatherings.

While the council cannot make any consensus or interfere with such
efforts, it was the general sense of those present that the name
should be changed to reflect this reality, and protect 'rainbow' from
complicity. It was agreed to acknowledge and encourage this media
initiative in the record, and to state these concerns... and a few
participants agreed to follow up and communicate privately with the
proponents, toward a workable solution.

Council definitely wants the media to see all the peace, love,
cooperation and heartfelt commitment going on at the gathering, to see
the beautiful children, hear the singing, smell the food cooking and
feel the good intentions. Support was expressed for individuals to
continue countering incorrect reports about the Gathering by sending
out their own reports.

--------------------------------------------------------

Other Discussions:

Since 2004 individuals have tried to negotiate a solution to the
Forest Service Non-Commercial Group Use Permit requirements, but the
"permit accommodation" largely failed: It did nothing to control law
enforcement harassment of a peaceful public assembly, and still locked
in the "Rainbow Family, et al." as a fictional 'group' party in the
Operating Plans. Now the Forest Service again requires a signed
permit, with official notice and meetings far in advance.

There were no Forest Service Representatives present at Thanksgiving
Council.

Recent administrative changes in the Department of Agriculture and the
Forest Service include a new Secretary of Agriculture, Tom Vilsack, a
new Under Secretary, Harris Sherman, replacing Mark Rey, as well as at
the Forest Service, Tom Tidwell, Forest Service Chief and David
Ferrell, Director of Law Enforcement DC Office. The hope was
expressed that with these changes will come an extra effort, by all
involved, to communicate and 'Walk, as well as Talk, the Path to
Peace' and mutual respect.

Also last January William "Doubting" Thomas of Peace Park, inveterate
vigiler in front of the White House for 27 years, passed away. He was
a pioneer in 1st Amendment policy & law, did important work as a
Rainbow "Legaliaison" volunteer 1987-93, and with PCU_FAP (Free
Assembly Project) for a few years thereafter. At the Memorial ceremony
last March, his partner Ellen Thomas got a consensus among concerned
folks in attendance to convey his 'Rainbow' research & legal files to
a concerned individual.

---------------------------------------------------------

Council adjourns.

beforehand.
*February 19 - 21: Potluck Weekend, Paul & Colleen's place north of Big Rapids,

*April 30 - May 2: Michigan Spring Council - offers put forward for Betsi's

Bart's, Ypsilanti, Michigan
*June 12: Family Reunion Picnic - Gallup Park, Ann Arbor
*July 24: No organized event at The Arb, Ann Arbor
*October 23: Fall Colors Picnic - details TBD
Decision on Fall Council dates and location deferred until Spring Council.

---Saturday notes (scribed by Gonzo)---

Bual recommended if we're councilling, to write things down and address them one
by one.

Facebook page: Want an OK with everyone that Turtle Soup has a Facebook page and
that the administrators are OKed for being the ones to do mass mailings. Rico
sent a request via Jen to get permission to use the page to organize classes,
i.e. vegan cooking.

Magic Hat: Bart sent word that he wants to do a fundraiser yard sale in the
spring.

Suggestion to discuss using Turtle Soup Kitchen to help folks around the state.
Paul suggested targeting tent communities that have grown within cities as good
areas to help.

Turtle Soup to Annual Gathering next summer: Who is going? Who is hauling
trailer? The issue is more than just the trailer, it is also having sufficient
personnel.

Discussion of organizing a living community. What is sustainability? Is this a
kitchen topic, or a separate topic altogether, better addressed at a separate
council? There was a sense of this being better addressed at a separate council,
but no consensus called on the topic.

Is there going to be a Regional next July 1 - 7? Are there going to be regionals
at other times?

*********

---Sunday notes (scribed by Jen)---

A proposal was made to start to gather more kitchen equipment so that a kitchen
could be at a national and support a regional for those who can't make it to the
National and to possibly feed the tent cities that are popping up around the
state. Steve donated a supply tent.

Jim Sherman wants to make a new grate and wants to form a committee to get input
for grate design. Some suggested the grate be collapsible for ease of storage.
Joosh would like to be a part of the committee.

Spring council will decide if the kitchen is to go to the National. The kitchen
will require a knowledgeable crew that will be responsible for getting the
kitchen there to set up and packed up and brought back.

Scouting will be done to hold a gathering for those who can't make it to the
National and for possible spring or fall regionals. No scouting outing dates
have been set.

We are going to have monthly potlucks to further discuss the items to be decided
at Spring Council and to socialize: Is the kitchen going to the National? Is
there going to be a regional for those who can't make it to the National? Where
and when will fall council be held?

Face Book Page has been approved with the following conditions:
*Administrators are not to delete posts unless the person who posted asks to
have it deleted or a post is legally incriminating.
*The page is to have the following disclaimer: This is an unofficial face book
page for fans of Turtle Soup kitchen. No one person speaks for the group. Turtle
Soup Kitchen decisions are to be made on the land.

There is going to be a trailer cleaning party that will include going through
the things in Dave's garage. No date set.

The filter will be investigated to determine what is needed for the National.

Kitchen use was ok'd to be used to feed the hungry and hold vegan classes as
long as a responsible and knowledgeable crew attends.

Thank You Dave for sharing your home.

I do believe that info circulating on the internet has freeked out
many a simple soul. Many folks are agro because of fear of things they do not understand.
Babylon is a highly competitive event. The concept of all things being one energy and free will cooperation between people does not show up in that play book.
Rainbow is a much better alternative for me. In my case it helped me find the long sought after exit door of Babylon stadium. Sure is nice and healing to know how to escape that playing field and rest my weary bones.

Eastern avenue along the river once had a lot of mountain folks living there in
not so pristine condition. The Real estate developers wanted the land people did
not sell fast enough or not at all so lots of mysterious house fires occured.
Eastern avenue is now empty of houses for the most point. Now new yuppie condos
are springing up.

There are some progressive types here but also a lot of neo-cons also.
Cincinnati is attracting more and more people with upscale tastes who come here
for the architecture, landscaping and the arts.

On the other hand a toxic cloud of racism seems to hover over this city
of rookwood pottery and stone. It's unspoken but yet its apparent.

Some days the gatherings seem a million miles away.

Halo cloud over Moscow: UFO or natural beauty?

Wednesday, October 14th 2009, 2:02 PM

This picture of the halo cloud was taken from a cell phone in Moscow.

Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/news/world/2009/10/14/2009-10-14_halo_cloud_over_moscow_ufo_or_natural_beauty_.html#ixzz0UWgJAz78

A strange halo cloud over Moscow had many in the Russian capital expecting a close encounter last Wednesday.

Millions witnessed an ominous ring-shaped cloud appear over Moscow’s western districts, prompting citizens to stop in their tracks to record the phenomenon and put it on YouTube.

The bizarre sight has taken the Internet by storm, so to speak.

However, scientists from the city’s weather forecast service dispelled fears of extra terrestrials landing in Red Square, saying the event was strictly environmental.

“It’s a purely optical effect, even if a spectacular one. You can see really strange things if you watch the clouds regularly,” weather officials told Russia’s Vesti 24. “Several air fronts have passed Moscow recently, including an inflow of cold air from the Arctic, and they combined to produce such a phenomenon.”

Eureka Springs is a really nice area. sort of the Boulder colorado of the
Ozarks. Really if you think about it, All states have redneck type people. Lots
of people who claim to walk the redneck path path are just righwing
reactionaries. The real rednecks are those who rose up against the crooked coal

Missouri and Arkansas can be like that too in some places .I've heard of Mississipi being refered to as miss-a-hippie, well because hippies have come up missing traveling thru that state.

Many of them still call the Civil War "The War of Northern Aggression." And if you dare suggest any changes, they tell you to "go back where you came from." Seriously.
