You talking about "Maddog1488"?
Who in the hell is this?
You notice that he "found" three jeeps in three areas of the country on the same day? Today!
Is there something that can be done? Did you? I dont se his logs on some of those he claims to have found yesterday and today.
He has logged 22 white jeeps so far.
Thats just plain annoying.
Talk to you later

Here is a bit of wisdom I thought I would share with the group.

One mistake many people make when logging a Travel Bug or taking a photograph of a Travel Bug is disclosing the "secret" number.

When an online log states: "Took travel bug J4XXXX, will move it on" or when a picture is taken of a travel bug and the number is shown on the dog tag, it allows anyone, anytime, to virtually access the travel bug. This can be annoying and frustrating to Travel bug owners.

Last year, someone online browsed through hundreds of pictures of Travel bugs, wrote down all the tracking numbers that showed in the photos, and moved them (virtually, since he never actually touched the TBs) to the Travel bug Graveyard (a place for missing travel bugs). Two of our eight TBs were moved by that %$#$! cacher.

Dozens of people received notices that their bugs were missing, and Groundspeak had to help remedy the issue.

Today, a cacher from back east logged a note "finding" a White Jeep TB in one of my cache because the tracking number was exposed in the picture. Obviously, he never found the Jeep, and the find and note on my cache were bogus.

Please, when logging a travel bug, do not disclose the tracking number in your log. Feel free to use the name of the TB, just don't mention the tracking number. If you take a picture of a travel bug, turn the tag over so the number does not show, or use a photo editing program (most computers come with the free program "paint") and digitally mark out the tracking number.

As always, please feel free to contact me if you have any questions on how to do this or need help of any kind.

Happy caching!!

I archived my missing cache Awww N.U.T.S.!
(The archive note is below)
=================================================================
Awwwwww NUTS!!! The cache is gone.

I went and checked on it this morning, and it is indeed MIA.

When I hid it originally the grass was tall, and it was covered by the rocks. Now, the grass is dead and short and the "good" hiding spot is now basically wide open.

This cache listing is one of my favorites, with pictures of various N.U.T.S members doing what we enjoy...caching!!!

By the way, for anyone who hadn't figured out this cache...the coordinates are on the page several times in a white font against a white background. If you highlight everything, the coordinates jump right out at you.

There is another great cache nearby ("swing me"). I'm not going to replace mine, but do recommend you do the other cache if you haven't...this is a cool area.

Happy caching!

Since people have been complaining about some of the Cacher practices
and etc. a little reminder from the Geocaching.com guidelines follows.
Remember that hiding a cache is a responsibility, and that many
people depend on you as a cache owner to keep your cache page up to
date and to check in on the cache when needed, etc.

Cache Permanence

When you report a cache on the Geocaching.com web site, geocachers
should (and will) expect the cache to be there for a realistic and
extended period of time. Therefore, caches that have the goal to move
("traveling caches"), or temporary caches (caches hidden for less than
3 months or for events) most likely will not be listed. If you wish to
hide caches for an event, bring printouts to the event and hand them
out there.

We realize that it is possible that a planned long-term cache
occasionally becomes finite because of concerns with the environment,
missing or plundered caches, or the owner's decision to remove the
cache for other valid reasons. Please do your best to research fully,
hide wisely, and maintain properly for a long cache life.

I stopped at 7-11 and just happened to catch the healine "geocaching" out of

Hi all - this is the "Jester_Mrs" ... "$jester" and "lil' jester"
want to take a bike ride tomorrow starting from Oroville Dam down the
trail along the river (we understand that this goes through the tunnel
where "Tunnel Vision"/Espcapades cache is.)

Does anyone know if this trail would be ok to pull a bike trailer? (we
are not certain "lil' jester" can go the distance on his own two
wheels...) All assistance appreciated; they plan to start at the Dam
and end at River Bend Park.

Thanks... "Jester_Mrs" (Carolyn) ;-)

It is very bumpy. It is not paved. There are ots of ruts from rain and motorcycles. It would be tough in my opinion.

I saw a link to this on the forums.
It's a cool and realistic (mostly) geocaching simulator.
Best for broadband users, may be slow on dial-ups.
Good training for a new cacher, or something to do at work :)

I think this applies to all of us, even those who don't strictly live in Sacramento, and I am sure that some of us will come up with some good geocaching additions...

You know you live in Sacramento when ...

The birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.

The trees are whistling for the dogs.

The best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.

Hot water now comes out of both taps.

You can make sun tea instantly.

You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron!

The temperature drops below 95 and you feel a little chilly.

You discover that in August it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.

You discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.

You actually burn your hand opening the car door.

You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m.

Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"

You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.

The potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.

Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.

The cows are giving evaporated milk.

Ah, what a place to call home.

Of course, I would consider Niagara a giant waterfall, but what can you expect from CNN?

Giant waterfall discovered in California national park

WHISKEYTOWN, California (AP) -- Dick McDermott knows these parts as well as any man can.

The 92-year-old used to earn a meager living mining the creeks that meander through the deeply wooded hills. He has slogged through the brush and hiked overgrown logging roads, hunting deer and gathering wood for his homemade fiddles.

But McDermott says he's never laid eyes on the nearly 400-foot waterfall that park officials recently discovered in a remote corner of the Whiskeytown National Recreation Area, 43,000 acres of wilderness in northern California.

"Sure, I was surprised," he said from his home in the park, where he's lived for more than 70 years. "I've been all around that place, I never seen 'em."

Until recently, very few had seen the roaring water that tumbles three tiers before pouring neatly into Crystal Creek. That such a spectacle should evade even park officials for nearly 40 years is remarkable, said park superintendent Jim Milestone.

"It wasn't on a map, no one on the trail crew knew about it. People who been here 27 years had never seen it," said Milestone, who is leading an effort to clear a trail to the newly named Whiskeytown Falls. It's expected to be finished by next summer.

I was just in Nevada yesterday, too! I could have checked at least one cache off the list!
I rode my motorcycle up and around Lake Tahoe with a group of other riders. I actually thought I saw SQWERL at a vista point at the castle on the lake, but it was another rider with almost an identical motorcycle (square metal saddlebags with stickers, too) from Germany .

I heard about the RCGDS and NUTS geo-coin at the RCGDS event in Davis this weekend. They are not finalize yet, but they do want our input on how its going to look and how many to make, to make it worth their time. I'm not sure who is heading it up but MikieP would know more about it. Rock might know more about it
