After looking further, I see what you mean, by not being sure.
According to John Nelson Nugent's draft registration, he is living in
Jones, Morehouse Parish, Louisiana. His nearest relative is George
W. Nugent of Winnsboro, Franklin Parish, Louisiana. If you don't
have a copy of this, let me know and I will try to send it to you.
The only time that I've found George Nugent, so far, in the early
years is: 1860 census Rapides Parish, LA Nelson Nugent Jr. 27 estate
$570 born LA; Susan 19[presumed wife]; George M. 9; Martha 7; Henry
5; Mitchell 3; Amanda 1. Now, I have a hard time believing that
Nelson had a son at age 16, with wife Susan age 10. And I don't find
a Nelson Nugent, age 17, in the 1850 Census. If anyone has any
information on this, I would love to be corrected. *smile

I did find George Nugent age 21 with Mary H. 21, in Grant Parish, in
1870. Still no concrete proof who John or George's parents are. But
I'm one hard headed researcher...so will keep looking.
