Great Amanda! I look forward to meeting everyone on Weds, March 9th.
I've got a hat I need to finish before it gets too warm outside. ;)

Sounds like we're almost neighbors! :)
The afternoons I have available tend to vary from week to week but
most of the time, Tuesdays are ok with the occasional Wednesday
popping up now and then. I work every other weekend and my work-free
weekends fill up pretty fast but I might be able to squeeze out a
couple hours to meet at Village Yarn and Tea Shop (VYTS).
What times are available to anyone else??

Thanks everyone for welcoming me to the group! I'm looking forward to
meeting y'all.

I live right at 192nd and 18th (technically Shoreline, but LFP is a
few blocks away in my neighborhood). I work from home 3 days/wk, so I
would be up for an afternoon gathering at the VYTS. Let's get it
going! Woo!

Hi Amanda and welcome!!
I live just down 195th in Lake Forest Park and have been to the

Hi both; I live in Shoreline too, and I was thrilled when that shop
opened! It's a very nice place, and I like the teas too. They have a
good selection of yarns. I crochet, can't knit very well; there's a
little crochet group that is planning on meeting up there, but I'd
like to meet the knitting folks too. My preference would be for
weekends, since it's kind of hard for me to find time after work.

Welcome, Amanda! I live close to Village Yarn Shop as well and I love it! I'm
so happy to have a nice shop so close to home, particularly when I have a
knitting emergency -- no more having to drive miles and miles to get the needles
I thought I had.

I just joined this group recently but unfortunately have commitments on
Wednesday nights through at least March. Hopefully I'll be able to attend a
meeting before too long.

Has anyone here attended Seattle Knitters Guild meetings? They have a great
meeting coming up in April where they have little "classes" during the meeting.
I went last year and took a class in knitting with beads. They also had
felting, knitting ergonomics and a lot of other interesting topics.

Hello fellow yarn fans!

I just joined the group today, so I missed the meeting last night -
dang! Just finished a red pixie hat, too! Oh well.

Just wanted to introduce myself, and plug my local yarn shop. The
Village Yarn and Tea Shop is excellent!
http://www.villageyarnandtea.com/Default.htm It's a neat little space
with great teas and yarns (as you might have guessed). The only
bugger is that it's only open until 6pm M-F, except Thursdays, when it

session.

What are your favorite LYS's? I am a new knitter, so I'm not familiar
with the local shops. I'm in Shoreline, but will travel for yarn.
Ha.

Anyhow, I'm looking forward to attending a gathering somtime and

Hello fellow snb'rs!
I'm Julia, from Kenmore -
I wanted to tell you about something my sister Susan and I have set-up to help cancer patients
My terrific sister lives in Colorado, is a recovering cancer patient and mom to an active three year old little girl.

Understandably, her cancer has shaken our family, and when I'm shaken I knit.  And so, my husband and I (with Susan's blessing) started the non-profit group Toasty Noggins.  We are asking those of you who knit, to consider knitting a warm hat (or hats)  for a cancer patient.  Colorado gets so very cold in the winter, and many of these patients (see the webpage for the scoop) travel from around the country - not always understanding how very frigid it can be.  Your hat would keep them warm and make them feel cared for.

Please consider spending one of your gatherings this month to make hats for this very worthwhile, and very simple cause.  You knit - we donate - heads are warmed.
All the information is on our website, but really, it's simple.  No money will be accepted, only hats.  Please pass our website along to your friends and family.  This cancer center hosts hundreds of patients and we can never have enough hats!  I am working on another kitten hat (from snb) now, to donate.

Thank you for considering this worthwhile cause.  Keep knitting and happiest of holidays to you all!

With Love,
Julia Guderian

Welcome Martha!
We are grateful for someone starting an introduction thread here.
Thanks for taking the initiative to do so. :)

I am Robyn aka Traevynn and started going to the Meetups for
Italian conversation which was way over my head but I loved
listening to the music of the language. Knitting is my current
craft/hobby/obsession so the Knitters Meetup was a natural choice.
I'm so glad you're coming to the next Meetup. Its a very casual
gathering and everyone is helpful and friendly.

The idea of a PDA case is great!! Its not always easy to think of
something for the techno-geeks in my family and thats a fabulous
idea. I want to see yours to figure out how to go about making one.
Will you bring it with you?

Keep checking in and hopefully, more people will find this site
and stay to chat.
May your yarn be easy to work with and snarl-free...
Robyn

It's been a couple years since I've posted on Yahoo groups, so
forgive me if I make a mess out of this or I'm stepping on toes by

an introduction thread.

Hi, I'm Martha. I'm 23 and painfully shy. I'm terrified about going
to a meetup, but I just RSVP'd on the meetup board, so I guess I'm going. I'm a
beginner and I discovered the other day that I detest working with circular
needles. I'm currently knitting leg warmers and will just have to live with
seams.

My mother taught me how to knit (and crochet and cross stitch), but
one of my friends really got me into it. She picked up knitting
about 18 months ago and has been going nonstop since. She's made the
most lovely socks, gloves, sweaters and just sent me a wonderful hat.
I'd love to knit something useful aside from my new PDA case (why
yes, I am a tech geek).

So, hi. Post something and make me feel less paranoid about starting a thread.

How did you become interesting in
knitting?

o Mother or Grandmother showed me how to knit
o Friends or coworkers got me interested.
o Cable TV Homeshow- they made it look so easy!
o Craft Fair with all the varieties of yarn
o I own llamas and/or alpacas and I have to use the wool for something!

This is a new venture for me. I started out by volunteering for the
Knitters Meetup as an Organizer and now want to spread the word to
the wide world.

If any knitters out there are interested in getting together on a
semi-regular basis, feel free to post a message here so that others
will know what is going on and where.

Are you a beginner or pre-beginner? Not a problem, just let everyone
know and we can help you out with questions and give suggestions on
where to go for help and information.

Links to knitting stores, gathering places, how-to books, etc are
always welcome and at this point, needed so please send some
information to put on the site.

Happy knitting!
Robyn
