Knight Ridder's cuts to increase profit in the face of declining circulation and declining advertising, have pushed the Philadelphia Daily News to the brink of non-existence.

Will Bunch, Daily News columnist, posted to his blog, and asked for comment on what has gone wrong - and asked for advice - what can the Daily News do in the future to become a news organization - a "norg" - that isn't defined by the paper - but by the service it provides.

This is the continuation of that conversation. About the Daily News, about all local newspapers faced with the same realities. How they can transition to be news organizations in the future? And is there anything that can be done to save the paper right now - so it has a chance to pursue that future?
