Description
Nonviolencenet is the only national networking email list for people involved with or interested in nonviolent social change in Australia. If you are actively interested or involved in nonviolence in Australia - we would like to have you on board.
Originally set up as a networking and discussion tool for the Australian Nonviolence Network in March 2000 - "for people involved with or interested in nonviolent social change." Today it is a broadly accessible list which provides a forum for discussion and networking across the country and can act as a forum for planning and organising national nonviolence gatherings as required. It's aim has been to facilitate useful and relevant discussion and information about nonviolence.
This list has been used to share info about nonviolence events, trainings, and important messages from international networks such as IFOR, Nonviolence International and the Nonviolent Peaceforce. Discussions have occurred in the lead-up to National Gatherings and about solidarity and support for activists under threat. It was used extensively as a national info-sharing tool in the defence of deported US peace activist Scott Parkin in September 2005 and during the court case of the Pine Gap 4 in 2007. It has over 100 members currently, representing all Australian states and has averaged about 10-20 posts per month since mid 2005.

It is currently moderated by Iain Murray, Anthony Kelly and Louise Cook- Tonkin.
