Brady,

I'll be riding thursday morning on the northshore. I'm flexible with the starting time and place. If you or any others decide to come from the southshore, and want to meet at either the caboose parking lot or at Abita Springs so that you don't have to drive as far let me know.

I may not have time for the regular Giro either, so I may be looking for an
early levee ride too.

I don't mean to stir up controversary as there's been enough on the LAMBRA
list, but I'd be happy to meet riders on the levee if anyone is interested
Thursday morning.

I'd prefer to do less miles and be a home a bit earlier. Any takers?

The consensus on the morning Levee ride was that there will be a Lakefront
Holiday Giro Ride on Thanksgiving morning at the usual time (7am) and the
usual place (Lakeshore Drive across from Kona Cafe').

Sounds like a plan.  I'll plan on meeting you guys at the "stacks"  ( is that what we call the regular meeting place?)  shortly after 7am.

The consensus on the morning Levee ride was that there will be a Lakefront Holiday Giro Ride on Thanksgiving morning at the usual time (7am) and the usual place (Lakeshore Drive across from Kona Cafe').

I've looked, and the person who started this whole argument, has raced just one single time (as per the results page on NOBC.org) in LAMBRA in 2009 and once in 2008. I'm not at all positive what category he races and I know for a fact he is not a member of LAMBRA, nor does he live in a LAMBRA state. Also, he is listed as "unattached" on USAC's website. Therefore, he's just a troll on our list, starting a useless, harmful, sensitive argument that's been hashed out and settled a few years ago in the best way we could settle it for now. So please, Scott Hendricks, could you please remove yourself from the LAMBRA e-mail list and keep your policy suggestions to yourself. No one has asked the opinion of someone who has no dog in this fight. If you were a race promoter or someone with some stellar resume', it might be appropriate for you to comment here. But you're just a troll on a list where you don't belong. Of course, any promoter would love to have any racer from any state attend their race. But I highly doubt anyone would be appreciative of any racer who has no real experience in anything to do with racing come up and make bad suggestions.

This is a dead issue. We're doing the best we can and we've got the best solution in place that we can come up with. And as you can see from Dustin's posting, there is no shortage of riders upgrading to cat3, this year, last year or any year. But to hear this argument from a racer who doesn't race or a promoter who no longer promotes is a bit offensive to the people who have shown dedication to this sport with their precious time.
.
Anyway, here's some suggestions of places where disruptive people like you seem to be the predominate opinion makers on the internet and where you should park yourself:
TXBRA.org    You have as much reason to be commenting on LAMBRA races as you would for races in TX. There are a lot of Trolls on that forum so you'll have a lot of company.
Have you ever run? Maybe you can join the running forums and tell them how to race?
Well, why stop there? When you were a kid, you ever play like you were the 3 Muskateers? Then you can join this list: http://www.fencingforum.com/
Thanks for your input, I think the people who actually race and are actually LAMBRA have this worked out

LAMBRA,

The Metro Bicycle Coalition (MBC) would like to invite you to the upcoming NOLA Bike Bash, November 20 - 22.  You can find a press release and a complete schedule on our website.  We are partnering with other bicycle organizations in New Orleans, and events are occurring all over the city, all weekend long.  We hope that you'll find time to spread the message, and hopefully ride out to some of the events to meet cyclists from across the City of  New Orleans.

As you can see, events range from a children's event at Audubon Zoo, to a road quality mapping ride around the Gentilly/UNO area.  There are riders and activists from across the state coming to New Orleans to participate, as well as bike polo team members from as far away as London.

We hope to see you ride out on your bike and visit some of the residents and visitors to New Orleans at some point in the weekend.

For Sale:

2005 Orbea Lobular

I am selling my trusty Orbea Lobular. This was our Herring Gas Team Issue race bike in 2005 and it's the bike I resort to when I've crunched up a few Carbon Fiber frames. This bike spent much of it's life hanging up, but it was raced for a full season and sporadically in between new rides. It is for sale as a complete bike, all you will need is pedals. It handles very well and the frame is stiff and responsive but gives a very comfortable ride due to the mix of carbon and aluminum. This has been a favorite bike for us because of the nice, compliant and responsive ride of the frame. This bike has the typical rock chips and scuffs that a 5 year old bike would have but none are noticeable unless you're looking for them. The heavy duty wheels are straight and true and are intended to be good for training wheels. The tires are brand new training tires by Hutchinson. The chain and cassette were replaced in August and have less than 300 miles on them. All of the Campagnolo Chorus parts are in excellent working order and as with all Campy groups, it is very serviceable and works like new all the time. There are no Campy bikes of this grade for this price anywhere. I've checked. Shimano does not have a 10 speed product that matches the quality, workmanship and serviceability of Campy.

Frame: Aluminum w/Patriot Paint Scheme w/Carbon Fiber (Zeus) Seat Stays. (54cm)
Fork: Carbon Fiber (Zeus)

Rear Derailleur: Campagnolo Chorus 10 speed Carbon Fiber

On Saturday, November 21 at 5:00 PM, The Robinson Film Center will host a screening and discussion of the new documentary film INVISIBLE GIRLFRIEND, which is, honestly, one of the most difficult-to- explain documentaries I have ever seen, much less programmed for exhibition at The Robinson Film Center.  In a nutshell, the film is the story of a Monroe, LA man who sets out to ride his bicycle from Monroe to New Orleans – more than 400 miles – through the backroads of Louisiana.  His name is Charles Fihiol, and he suffers from schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.  He’s riding to New Orleans because he believes that his invisible girlfriend, Joan of Arc, is psychically calling him to be there.  The filmmakers, Ashley Sabin and David Redmon, will be joining us for the screening and discussion.

In an attempt to embrace the spirit of Charles’ journey – which is plagued by a bad sense of direction and numerous bicycle problems – we’re offering free admission to the film for anyone who rides their bicycle to the screening.  Unfortunately, the film is equivalent to an ‘R’ rating because Charles curses his bike an awful lot, and the trailer is only really safe for 17+ years of age, but here it is, along with a great review:

http://www.carnival esquefilms. com/Invisible_ Girlfriend. html

"A surprising and profoundly compassionate road trip about an America struggling to get back on its feet, with filmmakers Ashley Sabin and David Redmon working at the intersection of Flannery O'Connor Avenue and Werner Herzog Boulevard."

For those who haven't done many of the regular winter northshore rides, the usual 65 mile route incorporates more hills than last week's club ride and the pace can get fairly fast.  Fortunately, there are a couple of places where you can take a short-cut if things get too competitive, so don't stay home just because you think you'll get dropped.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the Northshore ride today. I thought the
turnout was great! Believe we had about 25 on the road. My computer shows a
total of 65.7 miles for today. Nice change of pace from the Giro.

Thanks,

Mark

Yeah, we're definitely going to have to do another club ride like that!

NOLA BIKE BASH, NOVEMBER 20-22

Can't wait to see you out there.
