I spent the last week visiting family in Holland.  As you can see, I also did some bicycling and ice skating, which they do in off season.

Anyway, I talked to my sister and brother in law, who are avid cyclists and they told me that it would be fun to do the “Ardechoise” in June together   I am definitely going, but is anybody else interested?  This is a big cycling event held in France.  They participated two years ago and it was a great experience for them.  You can choose your own course based on your skill level, but mountains are inevitable.  There are usually about 14,000 cyclists from all over the world.  The website is http://www.ardechoise.com/index.php5

We could try to get some sponsors for those of you who can’t afford the trip.  Europeans love Mardi Gras beads so I thought of “Beads for Biking” where my sister can sell Mardi Gras beads on Queen’s day in Holland.  (They don’t have garage sales.) or sell them up north here.  Other ideas might also have to be explored

Well, let me know if you would give this some consideration or if you feel that I’ve totally gone insane!

   The ideal cyclocross course - albeit short - would be in the 1/2 mile stretch between
filmore and RE Lee on the west side of Marconi. You can set up a linear course
that can go back and forth several times and include a final stretch that goes up
and down the levee. There are trees to weave through. It is unused.
I feel confident that we could go to Bob Becker, who runs CP, and
get his permission. I had actually made this proposal several years ago just before
Katrina when they were doing the master plan. Happy Thanksgiving.

I was supposed to send this out a couple of weeks ago, but it just got lost in my in-box. Here is a spread sheet that Randy put together of ALL of the "Lakefront Bi-weekly World Championship Time Trials". The first couple only list the first 3 finishers, but if you were there and want your time listed, I'll see what I can do (or get Randy to do). It was great hanging out with all of you this summer and we hope to put on more races soon. Here's some notable items from this series.

Top 3 fastest times:
     28.2mph Eddie Corcoran. 27.4mph Tim Regan. 26.7mph Brady Skaggs
Fastest 3 women. Mignon Guerin, Heather Simon, Jennifer Holland
Greatest number of wins: Brady Skaggs 4
Greatest number of 2nd places: Mark Graffagnini 3
Number of TT's where it rained and we raced anyway: 2
Highest overall place by a woman: 6th out of 11. Mignon Guerin
Number of crashes: 3 (2 were by the same person, Rusty. One of those was him getting hit by a policeman texting)
Biggest rider turnout: 21 riders on the last event of the series. (2 were dnf's)
Strongest Wind as per Weather.com: 31mph.

It was a good time. Still working on getting a Cyclo-cross going, but it might be a while. See you in the Spring:

I have not decide yet, but if i do the levee i will be looking for a group to ride with since everybody else has already decided to do the Giro route.  I will decide this evening.

I'll be riding thursday morning on the northshore. I'm flexible with the starting time and place. If you or any others decide to come from the southshore, and want to meet at either the caboose parking lot or at Abita Springs so that you don't have to drive as far let me know.
