Description

COMING IN APRIL: Readthrough of the third book in the trilogy, The Last Word, and the Word After That

This group is for people interested in discussing the book A New Kind of Christian by Brian McLaren (Jossey-Bass Publishers, 2001), and its sequel The Story We Find Ourselves In: Further Adventures of a New Kind of Christian. The focus of this group is not so much theological (although, theological issues will no doubt crop up) as it is spiritual and practical. The main questions we're dealing with have more to do with how this plays out in our everyday lives and how we can go about incorporating some of the ideas in a way that helps us better come to grips with being faithful disciples in a postmodern society.

I wonder whether we could broaden the discussion to include Rob Bell's Love Wins. Reminded me very much of the 3rd McLaren book. Check out the response online;

Re: Mclaren's Critics
I would agree with Rick. Also, the turn of phrase sounds very uncharacteristic of the way Brian normally uses language. With respect to Cami's comment, I would

Re: Mclaren's Critics
David & Cami - Brian used to be on this list, so it might find him. I don't recall any "God is a chick" references in the past, except maybe conversations
