Nigeria Youth Synergy came into existence primarily to raise support and awareness on dwindling youth participation, empowerment and employment in Nigeria. Africa is the worst scourged continent in the world as at today. It was infest with wars, hunger, poverty, and prevalent diseases. To combat these scourges the UNO came up with Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Young people ages 15 to 35 are 2.1 billion of the world’s human capital. Many of them around the world are already making contributions to the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and their work should be further acknowledged and strengthened. Increasingly, youth are recognized as key participants in decision-making and development, as reflected in the growing presence of non-governmental youth organizations and the upsurge of youth advisory boards and committees to international institutions and programmes. Yet building the capacity of and creating sustained partnerships with young people are crucial strategies to achieving the MDGs that have not been realized fully by the international community. Yet, in Africa the case is totally, reversible.
In Africa continent, Young people are totaled at 200 million of the continent’s capital. Over 27% of this totaled 56million Youths, which abode in Nigeria. Nigeria bears the gravest burden of the scourges facing Africa because it contains over 20% of the entire African populace. Over 68% of these, entire figure belongs to the employable Youths who are supposed to add quotas to the developmental programmes of the country but are unemployable or ill employable. Really, Africa is facing grave problems of meeting the MDGs with the state of things in regards to Youths’ empowerment.
This organization Nigeria Youth Synergy (NYS) aims to provide a consultative Forum based solely on youth participations in Social Decision making in Nigeria as well as serving as a medium for empowering the Youth.
