Re: my SGI /Watson ,comments and concerns/Karma

i read the first page of your commentary and enjoyed it immensely...

this is huge undertaking for me, i read slow and think about what i read so
you'll find that just when you thought i gave up a question will appear..heh heh
...

as for the suggested book...
I'm trying to do all this online..

20 bucks is very reasonable. maybe at a later date.. but for now it's all online

Maybe it's 90% accurate. But the thing is that no translation will ever be 100%
accurate. Translations will always be something of an interpretation, though
some are more literal than others. The Kumarajiva translation of the Sanskrit
Lotus Sutra, for instance, is not as literal than some other translations - but
it has been felt that his translation better conveys the meaning and poetry of
it. Anyway, in re to SGI's Kaimoku-sho there is only one passage towards the
very end that is significantly different than Nichiren Shu's and it has to do
with attributing the virtues of parent, teacher, and sovereign to Nichiren. I
will not discuss that here now as I need to examine the passage again and also
in light of other gosho. The rest of the translation seems fine to me overall,
but certainly I would prefer to have the time to do my own translation of it so
I can check everything for myself. This kind of nit-picking, however, need not
hinder you from studying it in conjunction with my commentary.
