Awa Nichiren Daishonin was born on 16 February 1222, into a fishing family in the village of Kominato, in the region of Awa (presently in the Chiba prefecture). Awa Province was bordered by Kazusa Province. It lies on the tip of the Boso Peninsula.
Kazusa Kazusa (-no kuni) was an old province in the area of the Boso Peninsula of Honshu that is today a part of Chiba prefecture. Kazusa bordered on Awa and Shimo-Usa Provinces.
