Newlands Road in (Royal) Tunbridge Wells, Kent was first built in the early 1930's. It was wider than most roads and had a grass verge each side. It was an ideal place for children in those days growing up, as it was wide and very little traffic. The road, in the 1950's became quite well known, mainly for two organisations, the Annual Firework/bonfire parties and the Newlands Road Philatelic Society (all juniors).
I remember two other street events/parties the celebration of the end of the war and the 1952 Coronation.
I am sure others will have other memories.
This group is for all who live or have lived in Newlands Road, and their friends and families who remember, and people who lived in nearby roads who also have fond memories.
This is an ALL AGE group, and all messages should be child friendly and person friendly.
Peace & harmony
Chris (Phillips)
