was born in Springfield MA. I don't know if My
grandfather side of the family started in Ma. I is really
hard to get any information out of my faimly members
still living.

My grand father was Frederick
Milton Simmons. He had 2 sisters and 1 brother. Their
names were Marrie, Ernistine, and Rosco. My grandfather
and his sisters are dead now. I don't know anything
on his sisters. His brother is still living in MA
and was a MP in the military.

Their parents
were Paul and Correen Simmons. They divorsed, Correen,
still living, remarried and moved to Ohio. I don't know
here maiden name. Paul Simmons is deceased. He was an
Irish. I don't know if there are any brothers or
sisters. There has been mention of some maybe all came to
MA from Alabama.

Also a major reason I can't
get information on this branch of my faimily is
because Paul Simmons married Correen, an half black and
half indian woman. Which was very much a taboo back
then, which is now treated like a secret despite the
time we live in now.

ust joined today and made the mistake of first
looking at all the previously posted messages- wow, did I
confuse myself -saw all kinds of names and places that
may connect to me! Been into genealogy for years, but
am definitely an amateur. I am a native Mainer who
recently "moved back home" from southern Maine to northern
Maine. The surnames I am researching in my family on one
side are mostly in Maine and Mass. - Bates (LOTS OF
EM), Mitchell, Hutchinson, Kennedy, Shorey. On the
other side, probably mostly from Canada, are - Rogers,
Gray, Tabor, Anderson, Painter. I would love to get
into my hubby's side more than I have, but am usually
too overwhelmed. He is of Polish descent from
Vermont, with ties to Mass., too. Anyway, I have rambled
long enough - plan to go back to other messages later
on to see if I can help anyone else.

know exactly what I want to post... except my
family tree doesn't let me search by location. lol Okay,
so most of my family at one point was
Massachusetts... I really am not kidding. I guess I'll go
alphabetically. My first surname is Barber/Barbour. They started
from England, came to Boston and migrated all over
Massachusetts from there. If you have a Barber/Barbour line,
e-mail me please... and I'll check to see if we are
related. Laurel eeyoretail@...

i bj, I descend from the good Dr. thru son
Thomas, grandson Comfort and gr grandaughter Rachel Starr
who married Thomas Norton of Guilford Ct. Do you know
of any portraits of Dr. Comfort? As for the Brewster
line, I descend from the Rev. Wm thru two of his
grandaughters, Mary who married John "the older" Turner, and
Ruth who married John Pickett. It's so much fun
finding info about these people.

i, I'm new to the club and I'm just starting my
family tree. Many dead ends. I'm looking for info on
Loren Gadway (1883-1961);sons-Halsey (1923-1989),
Charles (1906-1980),Wilford (1917-1967)this name has
appeared misspelled as Wilfred, Clifford?, Arthur?,Malcom
or "Mickey"; daughter Catherine or Kathleen?, His
wife was Julia Dapo (1885-1944), Julia's brother
Charles M. (1888-1955), Charles's wife Cornelia
(1892-1954). Anyone recognize these names? Julia Dapo's family
immigrated from Canada in the 1800's. Alot of the family
lived in NY, but I'm coming up with possible links to
Vermont, Maine, Conneticut and a few other places.

i, I have been doing geneology for my husband's
family and am trying to tie together several loose ends.
On the Dunbar line the family settled in Hingham,
Mass. around 165? . Head on the family at that point
was Robert Dunbar married to a Rose____. Would be
happy to share what I have and am looking for
additional info. With the Manleys
I have it traced to New
York in 1800s, but it is really sketchy. Supposedly
the family is from the Isle of Mann....my Manley is a
George Manley who married an Eliza Dunbar and fathered a
daughter named Elizabeth who married a Tom Jones and is my
husband's grandmother. All this took place between 1850 and
1900. Looking for anything that might help. There are
still some Manleys in New York that are related....but
don't know anymore than I do. Hope to hear from some of
you!
