Eli D. Freeman and Charles W. Freeman - Looking for these two
brothers of my great grandmother (Clara Freeman Lancto/Loncto)...
Eli was born in 1874 in Massachusetts; Charles was born 1879/1880.
Their parents were John Freeman and Louise/Louisa Daniels.

I have documents that show that Eli lived with his sister Clara in
1900. (She was married to Alfred Lancto/Loncto). It shows that Eli
was 25 ,living with Clara and Alfred on Belmont Ave in Springfield,
MA. and Eli's occupation was listed as a painter. The last thing I
found was that Eli was in Northhampton State Hospital in Mass. in
1920..and it indicated he was married.

No other info on Charles just in 1880 when he was 7months old..
Does anyone have any info on these two..
..

I while back I recieved a box in the mail, It had no return address.
In it were two loose leaf binders and a envelope. The envelope had
several papers of past special events and an old night cap. The
binders contained the photos of one family (Surnames below) .The
dates of the photos ranged from the 1840s to the 1920s . The Majority
were taken in Hampton New Hampshire. Some of the men were seaman .. a
couple were sea captains . One Jonathan Godfrey is listed in the 1870
census as a Master Mariner. Its his wifes nightcap that was in the
envelope . Her name was Theodate ( Hobbs) Godfrey .

That this is a treasure is for certain. Maybe theres someone you know

I apologize to the members of New England Genalogy group. I have
cleaned out nearly 70 messages of junk and non-related postings. I
hope to keep this board cleaned up. I also hope that you will begin
posting again.

I have a message for all the "Advertisers" out ther - IF you join
this club with the intention of posting non-genalogy related
information - you will be better off un-joining. If you do post, I
will remove your message and revoke your membership to this club.

There are places to post this "advertising". It is not in this
club! If you post multiple unrelated messages, you will be reported
to Yahoo! as well.

This needs to stop! People are here to find information about their
ancestors. If they are interested in anything else, they will look
for a site with that information.

Please keep only related messages in this club or I will have to
change membership to by approval only intead of open.

Thank you and I hope you resepect our site!

Hello list,

It has been brought to my attention that the website for The Fuller

Does anybody know if the site has moved? Does the society still exist?
I've googled and I've searched at Cyndi's list and have not found

Hi Folks,

Thanks to Cyndi Howells and Art [unknown] I've learned that yes the
Fuller Society does exist and is active. The annual meeting this year
will be held at Plymouth, Mass, on September 15 (or 16) through 18.
The society lost their web hostess and they will be looking for
someone to fill those shoes at that time. Further information about
the Fuller Society can be obtained from President John Hoffman at

Dummer Michael "Mike" Sylvester born 19 January 1865 in Etna,
Penobscot, Maine son of Daniel Sylvester (Calvin 6, Edmund 5, Zebulon
4, Zebulon [Silvester] 3, Israel 2, Richard 1) and Eliza Wolf Friend
(Amos 7, Phineas 6, Benjamin 5, John 4, John 3, James 2, John 1). He
died 1 March 1958 in Searsport, Waldo, Maine and is buried in Gordon
Cemetery in Searsport.

Evelyn Lissie Cochran born 20 April 1868 in Etna daughter of Randall
Nelson Cochran (Samuel) and Phebe Elizabeth Glidden (William Stinson
7, Ezekial Averill 6, Benjamin 5, Charles 4, Charles 3, Richard 2,
Charles 1). She was missing June or July 1917 -- nothing further.

Married 4 July 1891 as her second marriage. She had previously married
Mr. Elbridge in 1888 in Carmel, Penobscot, Maine.

Children:

1. Lionel Nelson Sylvester born 7 April 1892, died December 1945,
married Mabel Stark 8 Nov 1917. One son. Later married Leona Jones.
Two daughters.

2. Vivian Daniel Sylvester born 20 November 1893 in Hartland,
Somerset, Maine, died 24 October 1968. Married Evangeline Estelle
Washburn of Madison, Somerset, Maine daughter of Edward Jones Washburn
and Alice Eldora Williams 22 June 1916 in Madison, Somerset, Maine.
Two sons.
http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/SYLVESTER/2002-10/1033709009

3. Gertrude Pansy Sylvester born 13 July 1899 in St. Albans, Somerset,
Maine, died 28 May 1981, married Charles Roland Gordon 1 May 1921.
One son and four daughters.

Mike was a farmer and a carpenter. In addition to the towns above Mike
and Evelyn also lived in Plymouth, Penobscot, Maine (1920); Belfast,
Waldo, Maine; Searsport, Waldo, Maine where he was manager of the farm
on Sears Island (1916-1917).

After Evelyn's disappearance in 1917 Mike moved back to Belfast. Mike
married Harriet J. Hooper or Harriet J. Martin of Belfast on 1 May
1918. In 1920 Mike was living in Belfast with his daughter Gertrude.
In 1930 he was living in Simsbury, Hartford, Connecticut with
Gertrude's family. At some point in time he lived briefly in Florida.

I remember him as "Old Gramps" (my great-grandfather) when I was a
child. During that time he lived in Gertrude's home on Brock Road in
Searsport where he died in 1958.

Dummer Michael Sylvester should not be confused with his brother
Dummer Sylvester. The elder Dummer Sylvester was born 22 July 1839 and
died 9 December 1862 in Yorktown, Virginia while in U.S. Service.
Dummer Sylvester was son of Daniel Sylvester and Mary Jane Mitchell.
Dummer Sylvester deceased more than 2 years before Dummer Michael
Sylvester was born.

Married 9 September 1891 probably in Madison.

Children:

1. Evangeline Estelle Washburn born 30 Jun 1895 in Norridgewock,

2. Sadie Washburn married Austie Chelf, no children.

3. Mary E Washburn married James Thorne, one son.

From a clipping in a local newspaper a few days after his untimely death:

"Edward J. Washburn of Madison died suddenly at his home on Pine
Street, Sunday night at the age of 52, after an illness of about ten
weeks of tuberculosis.

"While his relatives and friends knew that it was only a matter of
time before he must pass on still the end at this time was wholly
unexpected and came as a great shock to the entire community of which
he was a loved and respected member.

"Mr. Washburn was a member of the Baptist church and always an active
worker in the choir, the church and the Sunday School and in all three
various places it will be hard to find a man, always so ready and
cheerful and always at his post.

"Mr. Washburn had been assistant janitor at the library and the school
buildings until failing health in the spring forced him to give up
active work, and by his unfailing courtesy and faithfulness to his
duties endeared himself to all with whom he came in contact."

Edgar and Anna also cared for two foster children, Marie [Living]

Blanche as an adopted child but no official records stating such have
been found.

After Anna's death in a fire in 1916 daughter Sadie continued to raise
Marie in the Merry home after Sadie's marriage.
