"The Last Five Years" at Stumptown Stages ! I attended today's matinee
and was really impressed with the talent. Sara Catherine Wheatley and
Dale Johnannes are New York caliber actor/singers. They were so
believable as a husband and wife exploring their broken marriage from
opposite points of view. Kirk Mouser, Artistic Director for Stumptown,
made an excellent choice to bring this show to Portland's attention.

It was a shame that today's performance, which had reviewers from both
Willamette Week and the Oregonian in attendance, had a small audience
of only 15 people. Dale and Sara really deserve a full house.

I encourage you to go see it. You won't be disappointed.

Actually, we are in the competition....we had several Drammy committee members come to Steel Magnolias last summer and we met all requirements!

I don't think NCP is going to buy a table again as they have raised the prices, but we can certainly meet there!

Just a reminder that Gordon Mouser and Steve Quinn will be auditioning Lone Star and Laundry & Bourbon (respectively) tomorrow night, Wednesday, June 4th from 6:30-9pm! Come to the lobby of Rex Putnam, fill out a form and do a cold reading from the script.  Simple!   These will be two summer one acts with relatively light rehearsal schedules and lots of fun!

Hope to see you there!

Mark your calendars now: this month's Play Reading Potluck will be
held on Tuesday, 17 June.

A small but determined group of us would like to read ARSENIC AND OLD
LACE, with its cast of thousands. The script calls for 14 characters,
all of them delightful. There will be silly accents, outrageous
readings, and serious noshing.

Call your friends, bring your relations, grab a neighbor and let's all
have some ARSENIC.

That's Tuesday, 17 June at 6.30 PM, the third Tuesday of the
month.

NCP friends

Just in case anyone is not completely over the whole "Midsummer Night's...." thing, you are welcome to join the Oregon Regency Society on August 1.  They are, after all, providing a "mask, headgear and wings" workshop!!

They are, in fact, a very nice group of adults of all ages, teens and others who come to these - so ideal for everyone, even families who are into civilized evening with their kids.

Please forward, post and generally disseminate as you see fit.
Peace!
Kevin Yell

 Oregon Regency Society
We already know about the lovely picnics in store for us and
those are going to be delightful days; be sure to wear your bonnets!
However you cannot forget the Midsummer Night's Dream Masquerade at the
Ainsworth House & Gardens in Oregon City on August first.

Have you bought your tickets yet? Please do, because the price at the door
will be $5 more!

You can look forward to a short, whimsical excerpt of the infamous
Shakespeare Play "A Midsummer Night's Dream" performed by members of Chateau
de Valois; some delicious summery fare, English Country Dancing, and much
merriment.  We will also be judging costumes as they come in, and we will
offer three prizes for the most creative or whimsical ensembles.

It is still Regency wear, however you can take that theme, and expound upon
it. :)

If you did not attend our first event at Ainsworth House & Gardens last
year, you will be most deilghted to by the intricate English Garden with
mossy-paved paths, shimmering pools of water, trickling fountains, roses and
loveliness all around.  The beautiful historic house is intricately and
beautifully appointed in lovely antique pieces that make for perfect
photo-opportunities. The owners are kind and welcoming hosts and the AH&G is
one of the ORS's most valuable sponsors.

We will be holding a mask, headpiece & wing workshop (and possibly an
English Country Dance primer workshop as well) in preparation for this event
sometime soon, so please keep an eye out for new announcments.

You can buy your tickets online via Paypal on the ORS events page; or just
reply to this email if you have questions about other payment options.

/Stephanie

Hi Everyone -

We all put our heads together to come up with a fun way we could all get
together this summer have some potluck and some good socializing while
benefiting the company AND helping you clean out your garage!

We came up with a Yard Sale scheduled for Saturday, August 6th from 9am - 3PM!!
We figured that, together, we could set a goal of $1000.00 of sold donations of
odds and ends we each were planning to take to Goodwill anyway!

Please join us for this fun and beneficial event. The proceeds will help us in
several ways including helping to purchase the new furnace needed at the Bertman
house, next seasons productions and even expenses expected when we win the
State, Regional and then National one Act Festival set for March 2009 (wouldn't
that be sooo cool!).

Below are some ways you can help. Please let me know how you would like to
participate and I will sign you up! Thank you everyone. Maybe by August we
will see some sun!

1) Distribute Flyers in and around the Bertman House vicinity
2) Write and submit newspaper and online notices of yard sale
3) Make and Post Directional Signs on Day of Sale
4) Donations of all kinds for Sale (Please make sure to price reasonably and
make list of items so we can provide you a tax deductible receipt)
5) Last minute Prep / pricing / costume room clean out on Friday evening, Aug.
1st (There will be wine!)
6) Bring Tables for us to borrow
7) Volunteer for a 2-3 hour sales shift at Sale
8) Come by and bring something to eat, visit and just see what you can't resist
and just must have!

Important: Please drop off all Donations to the Bertman House by 7/22 - Write
to Kelley, Donna, or Elisabeth if you want to schedule a time to do so but here
is the good News....
Tuesday June 24 and Tuesday July 22 are Play Reading Potlucks so those are
excellent times to kill two birds with one stone as they say!!

Hey!  just a quick note.  This is the last weekend for "The Last Five Years" at the IFCC.  It's a wonderful show!  Hope you can make it.  Curtain is at 8 on both Friday and Saturday.  I don't know if you heard, but Kirk is moving STUMPTOWN to the great old theatre at Jefferson next season.  He is planing on opening with THE WIZ.  There are some great roles available. Keep informed by checking out the website.  We really hope you can make it to the show this weekend. We'd love to see you and catch up on what's happening in your life.

Hey Everyone!

We're looking for a couple furniture pieces for our summer show in a couple weeks....I thought I'd check with you first before trying to buy it (or steal it from someone's backyard!)
Here is what we're looking for:

Patio loveseat (wicker?)
Patio coffee table
Two patio chairs with small table between (wicker?)
old tea tray or small table (rectangle) that isn't very wide but could be long (i.e. those tables that go behind a couch)

Bench seat from an old truck or van

We're also looking for a small, older TV (needs to work)

All of these things can be a little beat up/weather worn and we promise to take good care of them!

Hi Kelly;

We have a small, old tv. Don’t know if it still works. I can check if you don’t have one yet.

Hello all,

We have a few prop needs we're unable to fill at this point.  Please let me know if you have any of the following items that we could borrow and return to you at the end of Laundry and Bourbon and Lonestar:

  • Working phonograph/record player/turn table - needs to be pre-tape deck era, or at least not have a tape deck built in
  • Long white men's undergarment - think boxer briefs, but long and skinny.  A pair of old long johns that you don't want back would work, too.
  • Assorted magazines and newspapers, preferably older.  70s is great!
  • Empty beer cases
  • generic paper grocery sacks
  • scrap lumber, pref. short pieces
  • several old car tires
  • A set of car keys you don't need to use for a while
I also may need a couple of metal outdoor trash cans.  If anyone has these, or knows where they can be found, please let me know.

Hi All,

I am writing to you all to appeal for any leads that you may have for
advertising or sponsorship for the upcoming season. As you all know,
people are tightening their belts with the way the economy is at the
moment and I am having a tough time finding support for our new season.
If any of you know a company, organization or individual that might be
interested in supporting us, I would SO appreciate the information. We
have a wonderful season coming up and we need the financial backing to
make it our best one ever!

Thank you in advance for any leads you may have.

Best wishes,

Faye

I'm the pastor at Clackamas United Church of Christ.
We're a progressive, liberal congregation that supports the arts.
I also lead a community student arts program during the week called Wonder Wednesday.
Send me your advertising/sponsorship details, and I see if we can afford to help support
your upcoming season.

Faye,

I know NCP is a member of the North Clackamas Chamber, maybe someone
should make a visit to tell about the urgent need? I'm sure some of
those folks would buy advertising or sponsor if they knew it was
urgent. I may have some other ideas, feel free to email me!

Best regards,
Sarah Tollefson
