Thirty activists from five New England states met on Saturday, July 22, and
agreed to form a regional network which will carry out three joint actions
over the next year.
ELEVEN REASONS TO COLLABORATE
1. Find out what's going on in each other's networks.
2. Build our morale.
3. Large actions together would give us a goal and charge up New England,
which is on the margins of the global economy industrially.
4. Develop a vision guiding us all -- what do we want?
5. Build a movement -- communication.
6. Joint bodies that work together with people in different parts of the world.
7. Mobilize against the Free Trade Area of the Americas.
8. Build bigger solidarity/labor support actions (like a regional
mobilization of two hundred global activists to support the St Vincent's
nurses) -- there will be more fights as commodification and corporate
globalization develop.
9. The energy is there for it.
10. If we hold a regional action in one city, that builds our credibility
there. As our partner organizations see us come from all around New
England, they will believe in working globally and will travel with us.
11. Coordinating local actions on a common day legitimates us with the
media, unions, ...
