Description
The purpose of the Naturalism Philosophy Forum (NPF) is to facilitate the investigation of scientific naturalism, its assumptions, structure, and logical implications. Members are encouraged to state and defend their views, adjust them in the light of counter-arguments, and if possible develop consensus statements about naturalism and its implications. Such work will help to clarify the philosophical and scientific status of naturalism so that it might be presented to the wider culture as a coherent alternative to faith-based worldviews such as traditional religions and new age philosophies.
Members are strongly encouraged to be respectful in their discourse, to avoid philosophical jargon unless it is explicitly spelled out, and to provide examples to illustrate their points. Some online resources related to naturalism can be found at http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/
nontheism/naturalism/index.html and www.naturalism.org. Members are encouraged to suggest other resources.
This group is sponsored by the Center for Naturalism (CFN), which seeks to promote naturalism and its positive personal and social implications. Other Yahoo groups sponsored by the CFN are the Applied Naturalism Group - a general forum to explore the personal and social applications of naturalism; the CFN Therapy Group - to integrate naturalism into psychotherapy; and CFN Fellowship - to develop face-to-face naturalist communities and fellowships. See also Determinism - Les Garwood's original Yahoo group on determinism and naturalism.
Questions and comments about this group can be directed to Tom Clark, director of the Center for Naturalism, at twc@naturalism.org.

What does predisposition mean?
"Because although our genes influence our choice, they do not give us a single option which we *must* follow as a directive. Rather they afford us a spectrum
