TSH length

If one has made the TSH a bit to long is it OK to move the bird a bit closer
over the back of the TSH to get a better sound or just can it and start over?

I have used the quickwood method that Carl spoke on 2 flutes. It work wuite well on both flutes. It would have taken me awhile to try and make a piece fit....
