Katie,
I have recorded it with a camcorder and it's sound is truly amazing
considering it is 150(authenticated) who knows how old. It sounds good by todays
standards. I was very fortunate to have stepped into this. There are very of the
old flutes like this one around today.

Cliff, it is not a cypress but a JUNIPER. It's Latin name is Juniperus virginiana. But it does grow in Oregon according to the USDA. here is a good Wikipedia...

Hi Dock, In my opinion that flute (docs' old flute) isn't Kiowa. My guess would be that it is from somewhere further up the plains - Maybe Cheyenne or Lakota....
