Native-Lifeways was created for the discussion and exchange of NON-SACRED traditional and contemporary AMERICAN INDIAN skills and technologies, included relevant plants, herbs, and fungi, used in day to day living but NOT including food related discussion (see Native-Cooking-L for discussions on American Indian Cooking). This is purely a why/how discussion of what it took to live day to day such as non-food recipes, natural dyes and fibers, what tools utensils were needed, how they were created, how they were used, what substitutes today.
It is moderated by Wisdom Keepers, Inc. (WKI - http://www.wisdomkeepers.org) and is open to all ages.
Please Note: This list is NOT for discussion of any topic regarded as sacred, spiritual, or ceremonial! Also, we stay ON TOPIC here. No political discussions, no virus-alerts, etc. Finally, this list is NOT here to discuss "how to bead, quill, etc." There is a wonderful list in existence for that already and we encourage you to take advantage of nativeartscrafts@yahoogroups.com if you want to learn art craft technologies.
