Welcome to Nagoya Foreign Mothers Group virtual space!

Living in Japan as a foreigner is sometimes difficult especially when you're pregnant or have a small baby and you don't speak the language.
If you are in or around Nagoya, this group is the right place to find information and support from other people in a similar situation and professional midwives.

Nagoya Foreign Mothers Group was set up in 1996 by Ms Misako Iwamoto, a veteran midwife who selflessly committed herself for years volunteering to help foreign expectant moms, and Lorna Ohigashi who was among the first foreign resident Misako san helped when she had her babies had been faithfully supporting this group ever since. Members like Peggy made a website for our Foreign Mothers Group and with the great help of Anne Marie Hoginbirk, our English Booklet was made.

We have monthly meetings every 2nd Saturday of the month, (except August and December)from 10:00 - 12:00 at Nagoya City Women's Center (Meijo subway line, Higashi-betsuin station, exit #1). They are free and everyone is welcome! We're open to families with foreign fathers too.
Our primary language is English, but our members are of many nationalities.
This yahoo group is our virtual meeting space to continue or initiate discussions, ask urgent questions and store information for future reference. Everyone's input is what matters most!
