Description

Welcome to the National Association of Black Journalists' Listserve list.

NABJ includes African American journalists nationwide as well as black journalists outside the United States. We welcome your comments. For more information, you may call NABJ at (301) 445-7100. And please visit our Web site at WWW.NABJ.ORG

NABJFORUM is a members-only e-mail and bulletin board discussion group for members of the National Association of Black Journalists, designed to focus on topics of interest to African American reporters, editors, photographers, broadcasters and other working journalists.

GUIDELINES FOR NABJ LISTSERVE

As NABJ moves toward expansion of the Web site, in the interim the following guidelines will be in use for the Listserve and NABJ chat rooms.

These guidelines are borrowed from other listserves and from suggestions made by members of the NABJ listserve.

PURPOSE:
The purpose of this listserve is to provide a forum for black journalists and prospective journalists to discuss issues related to journalism and to NABJ. The listserve is not a general interest chat room.

CONTENT:
The advertising, marketing or sale of products and services is not permitted. Job postings in the field of journalism that might interest listserve members are welcome. Members are also encouraged to make use of other NABJ resources for listing job information. These include the NABJ job line, the NABJ Journal and NABJ Update.

Journalism comes first. There are other listserves, discussion groups and bulletin boards where non-journalism topics are discussed, including many developed for African Americans. This is not to say that from time to time, a discussion of lighter subjects is not warranted or desired, but primarily the focus here is journalism.

Add to the discussion. Responses that say no more than "amen" or "that's right" or "I agree" fail to add to the discussion.
