Subject: [announce] Festival site Announcement

Unto the Populas do Baron Loyola and Baronesss Annora send greetings.

As many of you know now, the contract for Glenworth Valley Festival site is
in it's final year and in the past few months we have been exploring
alternative venues.  Four sites were submitted for appraisal by members of
the Kingdom at large and open discussion.  After this lengthy process and
the council of our advisory team, we have decided thus.

We will be moving Rowany Festival to a new site in the Southern Highlands
called Womberoo.  We fully believe that Womberoo offers a range of
opportunities and facilities that no previous Festival site has.

Storage of shipping containers on the new site is approved, so they will
need to be moved after this Festival.  Any unclaimed or un-spoken for items
will be disposed of before this takes place.  If you have anything in the
containers, please take responsibility for ensuring that your items are
accounted for.  Further information regarding this will be posted as soon
as we can.

We look forward to seeing many of you in the coming weeks at this years
Rowany Festival.  Good luck with the last of your preparations.

Warmest regards and safe travels,

Loyola and Annora - Rowany.

FROM THE OUTLANDS

A special RIVER HAVEN REVEL and an afternoon discussion group on fabric, patterns, costume, embroidery and fun.

Saturday 23/3/2013

Afternoon discussion group from 3pm to 5.30pm and then Revel from 6pm to 9pm.

Where: River Haven Hall, Wesley Street Hall, Lutwyche.

Mistress Briatiz d'Andrade persona is 1512 from San Juan de Santiago de Compostella with strong ties to France. So maybe we could make her feel at home with some Spanish food (other foods are of course very welcome) and I would appreciate your help with decoration for the hall for the event. So please contact me cathyrickertcroft@... if you have appropriate decorations that will transform our hall into a delightful Spanish Villa for the visit.

Let’s show our overseas visitor some Australian hospitality and make this afternoon tea and Revel the best yet. I will put up the list for food and numbers on the wall in the communication corner (sign in desk) or let me know you are coming and what you are bringing to the Revel by email on cathyrickertcroft@.... The Barony will pay for afternoon tea so it is just Revel food you will need to bring. Booking essential for afternoon Discussion Group.

I will also have a children’s luck door prize again with the draw around 7pm so they are not waiting all night. So parents please explain to them it is a game of chance and not everyone will win.

This is YOUR chance to talk to a Laurel with lots of experience and hear about the SCA in another Kingdom.

All groups are welcome to attend so come along to greet Mistress Briatiz d'Andrad to River Haven and show her the friendship that has made River Haven famous.

Bookings essential for Discussion Group (I need numbers for catering purposes).

Thank You to everyone who has booked for the Afternoon Discussion with Mistress Briatiz d'Andrade tomorrow at River Haven Hall at 3pm.

We have lots of people booked and it is going to be a really good afternoon.

Cook has been baking yummy goodies today (she did not forget the gluten free people).  So now it is just one big sleep and we will be making new friend and catching up with old friends.

There is still space for more at the Revel but the hall is filling quickly. So if you find yourself without plans tomorrow night come on over to River Hall, Wesley Street, Lutwyche, ready to share good food and company at 6pm sharp.

PLUS a childrens lucky door prize.

If you need to contact me my email is cathyrickertcroft@....

Greetings and a big Thank You to everyone who came to the Afternoon Discussion and Revel on Saturday.

It was lovely to meet our special guest from the Kingdom of the Outlands, Mistress Briatiz d'Andrade and to catch up with some friends we have not seen for awhile.  Even though Brisbane decided to show everyone the heat and humidity it was a great afternoon and evening.

There was much talk of embroidery, beads and sewing even some card playing and the afternoon just flew by.

The Revel food was delicious and there was certainly a Spanish flavour to the evening. Thank you so very much for such a splendid selection of different foods.

The children’s luck door prize was won by one of our member’s grandson.

Thank you very much to the people who stayed behind and helped clean up and tidy the hall.

Greetings,

It was a great night on Saturday with our Wake for King Richard 111 at River Haven Hall. We have said our farewells and had a fantastic discussion on King Richard 111.

One of our guests brought her computer and a spare monitor and we even watched bits and pieces about the excavations etc. We had newspaper clippings and with so much shared information the night just went so fast.

The foods was brilliant, roast beef, pork and chicken, amber day tarts, mushrooms, potatoes, curry, breads and cheeses, baked apples, fruit salad and plum jam slice and much more.

We had two visitors from Stegby, Jan and Sam (it was really lovely to see you both). We had two lucky winners of the Children’s lucky door prize and I hope they enjoy their prizes. We had lovely harp music throughout the evening and very big thank you to Lady Christine for sharing her talent with us.

So thanks to everyone who came to share and learn history with us at River Haven.

Hi All,

Well festival is over for another year and it was fantastic.

Though we were few in number on the field, River Haven was mightly represented on the field by Faelin, Antionette and Count Henri.

Congratulations to Count Henri on being sent to vigil for elevation to the Order of Chivalry, His Excellency’s vigil and knighting will take place at Great Northern War, we very much encourage everyone to attend to celebrate Lochac’s newest knight.

Also congratulations Master Hrothgar on being granted an Augmentation of Arms, very richly deserved recognition of all the work he has done for the Lochac chirurgeonate over many years.

So, next year’s Rowany Festival is at a new site, so marvellous new opportunity for River Haven to put in a big showing, please have a think about it and let us know your ideas for the campsite. We would very much like as many people from River Haven to be there and the facilities at the new site should make it possible for more people to attend.

Remember as Master Del always says, festival is only two weeks away!

As all Canton Officers are due to report to Kingdom on the 15th of this month may I ask that Canton Heralds copy me in on the reports that are to be sent to Crux Australis.

These can then be included in the Baronial report to Kingdom due next month.

Also a reminder that I require the monthly reports no later than the Monday of the third week of each month so that they can be included in the report to Baronial Council

Your Majesties, good gentles of Lochac

It would appear our dear cousin Bain, baron of Saint Florian-de-la-Riviere was somewhat overzealous in his “collection” of goods and taxes while on pilgrimage to his ancestral lands of Ventbarre as word has reached us that maurauders from the south are now eyeing the supposed wealth of the north and are planning to “recover” said goods and taxes for their “rightful” owners for a fee (to be a sizeable percentage of “recovered” goods and taxes). I would dare not suggest that any of our fair cousins would be sponsoring these brigands and freebooters (*cough*Rowany*cough*) but I fear they will take more than is just. We beseech all of good honour to travel north to help defend the fair lands of River Haven. From the information we have received the are planning a “surprise” attack on the second week end in June, just south of the village of Sam’s Ford.

River Haven invites you all to attend the North’s premiere event, Great Northern War 7th to 10th of June

Details can be found at http://lochac.sca.org/gnw/
