Pole dancing can be breathtaking and beautiful. It combines strength, grace, flexibility and sensuality. It can also be a form of workout, proof that anyone can work the pole in a safe & friendly environment.
Unfortunately, there is still a huge societal stigma attached to pole dancing. Society thinks it is only part of the adult entertainment industry.

The growing popularity of pole dancing as a form of health and fitness exercise in a positive environment has reached hundreds of women, all working females & mothers, to protect themselves against cardiovascular related problems, maintain skeletal & muscular integrity, and promote psychological well-being. It is important that in order to foster an awareness of one's health, that the individual be engaged in physical activity that she enjoys. It is said that a good session of pole dancing burns off more calories than the average time spent working at the gym, and it involves the use of large muscle groups that are rarely used.

There are now active participations to competitions that regard pole dancing as a Sport. Pole dancing is the graceful and artistic combination of dance, acrobatics and gymnastics. It boosts a woman's self-esteem and builds confidence. It is an art, empowering and sensual... a form of personal expression, with health benefits.

The group moderator is a medical student taking dance lessons on weekends as a form of workout. Some of the people here hang around to keep track of her progress as an artistic pole dancer.
