Re: [multimachine] Any carriage and cross slide designs

Hello Lance
I need somemore info about your idea to give you some help.
Building ways and spindle is  the hadest part to the machine.
we do not seem to have a good design to bulld ways for the
machine.
A box/square ways are the simplest one to build for the home
builder.
Cold rolled steel is perfered because it is more accurate then
Hot rolled steel. There is no slag to have to deal with on CRS
 like the HRS has.

The reason I like two narrow ways over the single wide ways
is it is more cost effective than the wider single way after a
certian width.
if you do use the wider plate you want to put runner down the sides
this keeps the plates from touching if they are bowed.

Hi Keith,

Ya, I like the table, but can you provide some
better pictures of how it is constructed?

I have a single way 7" wide x 1" thick and the
carriage would sit over this with gibs in the side
to adj the sliding fit / friction.
