Dear Mukto-Mona,

I read the news about the prison sentence passed
against Taslima Nasrin. When I asked about the details
of it, Raman said that Taslima Nasrin was not even
present to defend her case; Nor her defence counsel.
The news is very disheartening. I wanted to send a
message of support to her. Raman said such a message
can be sent to Mukto-mona, and maybe forwarded to
Taslima Nasrin. Here is the message-


Message to Taslima Nasrin.

Dear Sister,

The news about one year jail sentence passed against
you, in your absence is verymuch disheartening. I am
writing this message to assure you, there are many
millions of your sisters to support you.

Sister, I have not read any of your books; I do not
know your language; I have no idea whether your
writings are scholary or not; But, I know, from
different sources, that you have boldly stoodup for
the women. From a recent article from mukto-Mona, I
learned that you stoodup for all women irrespective of
their faith.

Many millions of women suffer in the sub-continent in
the name of religion and customs. I suffered from my
in-laws and parents(!) due to my love marriage. But I
was fortunate to have a solid support. Millions of
other sisters can not say the same. They all suffer
silently. Only women like you light a flame of hope in
their lives.

Sister, I am not verymuch educated, like many millions
of sisters. we know about our grivences, but, we do
not even know the cause. we have no idea about the
cure for our woes.

Sister, you have spoken on our behalf. You have
suffered a lot on our behalf. you have risked your
life on our behalf. Thank You; Please consider this
'Thank You' coming from many millions of sisters.

If there is danger for your life in your home-country,
please stay wherever you are in safety. Please
continue to talk on behalf of your dumb sisters. We do
not know how to talk; we easily get confused; we get
cheated easily; we are proud of you sister, for, you
have not shown any of the weaknesses shown by us.

Sister, I pray the god to grant you a long and healthy
life. I wish that you would produce many sisters like
you. In this troubled times, I hope my message may
give you some comfort.
