Please answer this one.
many members of my family changed their religion from Islam to Christianity
after the take over of Iran by the Islamist. None of them had to change their
names from an Islamic name to a Christian one. Why is it that whenever a person
becomes Muslim from other religions they have to give up their identity and
choose a new Islamic one? Why did Cashish Clay had to become Mohammed Ali? Islam
totally crossed out the life of this man prior to becoming a Muslim. Or the
singer that now has a new Islamic name and no one can remember him anymore. Why
can't a person be Linda and be a Muslim? Why should she become a Fatemeh?
In Iran after the establishment of the Islamic Republic, people could not get
birth certificate for their children without giving them an Arabic name. This is
dictatorship.
