Dear Mukto-Monas,
As if assault on minorities and violence against women, particularly on minor ones in BD become a regular phenomenon in our social life. We are gradually getting used it. The police have accepted it as normal thing, so they have nothing to do. Political leadership also accepted it as a norm of our life, nay it is a good way of keeping their armed cadres in good humour. My very good journalist friend Mobaswer Ali from Bhola has send the following report published in Sangbad.

: After the raping event at Dhoulatkhana of Bhola, this time a similar barbaric raping took place at Tajumuddin upazila. The event took place at Sonapur union of the upazila on 3rd April, but the news reached us on 8th April. The victim is now receiving medical treatment at Tajumuddin upazila hospital. 4 youths raped a woman of 45 years one after another repeatedly and that too in front of her daughter. She was taken to upazila hospital with severe pain and profuse bleeding on 4th April. For fear of social shame, anxiety and panic she did not disclose it to any one. After being questioned by the attending medical officer, Dr. Nityananda Choudhury she admitted in confidence to the doctor. On Monday, 8th Aril she narrated the story to a group of journalists on the condition that her name and address would not be disclosed or published. The women informed that at about 8 p.m. on 3rd Aril 4 young men forcibly entered her room and wanted to take her 18 year old daughter with force. But she did not succumbed to their demand and said to them she would rather give up her life to save the ijzza ( honor) of her daughter. This irritated the youths. Then took her izzat in front of the daughter. It is learnt that after being raped by two she became unconscious. When she came to her senses she found that she was profusely bleeding. The daughter informed us that with fear and shame she could not do save her mother and hide herself under a quilt .The hooligans were at their house for two hours. Other members of the family the father in law, husband and her son were at Sadar upazila at that time in their newly constructed house. In fact the moved the old hose at Sonapur to Sadar a few days back. The house where the raping took place is in fact the kitchen. The victim was also injured by the miscreants with a knife.
It may be mentioned that victim belongs to Hinduism. Her husband is a mental patient, who has asked for justice.
