ALL FOUR MISCREANTS ARRESTED
In our earlier posting we reported that a group of miscreants belonging to BNP's associate organization Yubodal rape a 7-year old daughter of an AL worker Rajab Ali of Konda village under Baghmara upazila in the district of Rajshahi on 21st March night. The poor child, named Rajufa is a student of class III reading in a local BRAC school. But the cruelest part of the event is the culprits cut her private part i.e. her sex organ while one of the miscreant trying to cut her pyjama with a sharp knife. Reader can you imagine how cruel a person could be. Is he a lunatic or a psychic? The molested poor child is still bleeding.
Within a month there took place three published case of raping in the district, unfortunately in all these events are associated BNP cadres.
The only good news is that the police have arrested all four accused of the event. The main accused Ashraful Alam (son of Abdul Aziz) and his two associates, namely, Rahimuddin (son of Shamsuddin) and Muklesur alias Muke (son of Badal) were arrested on Thursday (4th April). The fourth one who was last arrested on Friday (5th April) is Israfil (son of Rahimuddin). They are all young men of ages between 15 - 20. The police have also rounded up Israfils's father Rahimuddin for interrogation. Police sent all accuseds to the court. But the local BNP leadership are bringing pressure on the police administration to arrest a son of a local AL worker whose name was not enlisted in the ejahar (complain). This is an attempt on the part of the local BNP leadership to dilute the case.
What his Fault?
The unfortunate father, day labourer, openly complained in presence of hundreds of villagers and the additional police super Mr. Arzul Haque OC in charge of Baghmara PS Mr. AKM Abdul Latif, that the alleged accused are threatening them with severe consequences. For purely political reason and previous enmity the BNP goondas did this unfortunate event, the cruelest event of the recent time. The villagers informed that the alleged accuseds are members of Yubodal cadres. During last general election they asked Rajab to work for "Dhaner Shis", but Rajab refused to do it and instead worked for 'Nauka' symbol for ideological reason. More over one BNP cadre Chhamir destroyed his Banana Garden. When Rajab protested, a case was filed against him and 7-members of his family. But he was acquitted from the case. That made the group furious and committed the cruel most crime of 21st March.
Where is the place?
The village Konda is a remote place having no good road connection with upazila headquarter located about 40 km from Rajshahi town and not less that 20 km from Baghmara sadar. The direct eyewitness of the event is Rajab's elder son named Juel Rana, an 8-year boy of class IV of a local primary school. Like every day the boy and his sister Rajufa were sleeping on a floor of a room, whereas in the adjacent their parents were sleeping. At the dead night of 21st March, (in fact 2-30 a.m. of 22nd March) Ashraful (18), Israfil (20, son of Rahimuddin), Rahimuddin (18) and Muke (Mukles) forcible entered the room breaking the door.

School boy Juel said 'Apu, my elder sister was sleeping on my right. I was on left side. Muke pressed his hands against my mouth and Rahim my sister's. They threatened us with weapons not to shout or cry. If we do, they would simply kill us. We got panicked. Israfil cut off my sister's pyjama with a sharp knife. And at some stage Ashraful rode on my sister's body- I can't say any more. I don't know any more.' As the boy was narrating his horrible experience little Juel cried out. The poor girl, lying at the Rajshahi Medical college Hospital, said same thing. She mentioned the names of those alleged culprits each one of them dishounered her chastity. She was weeping as she remembered the harrowing experience of the assault.
Rajab Ali said, ' when we woke up, we saw the culprits running away. But before they left the house they threatened us to kill if we disclose the event. This was the time when we heard Azan. We saw child was profusely bleeding, and the bed looked red with blood. In the morning (22nd March) I took my child to one village doctor Hamid at nearby Mochail. He treated her for three days, and at one stage he advised me to take her to town. She was then admitted at Jana-Seva clinic at Rajshahi town on 26th March. There the doctor demanded Tk 200/ per day. As w e could not it, I took her back home.

Repression on Political opponents
Whether AL is a good or bad political party should be left to the people to judge. Victory of BNP in the election with two third majority in the assembly is not a license given to its cadres to turn on AL supporters and workers. The BNP supporters can not take any repressive or punitive measure on those who cast votes or worked in favour of 'Boat'. But the local cadres of BNP and its associate organizations are precisely doing theses throughout the country since 1st October (2001) and top leadership of BNP either failed to control their cadres or have given direct or tacit approval. The daily Sangbad again followed the story in its 7th April issue with the caption:

When we talked to villagers, more harrowing stories of terrorism committed by these miscreants claiming to members of Yubodal came to surface. After general election on 1st October last year the young men of ages between 15-20 established a reign of terror in the village Konda. All most every day these young men were carrying on assaults and looting on the supporters of AL. They have been harassing and looting more than 50 houses belonging to AL supporters. These families, among others, include those of Rajab Ali, Mofiz Mallik, Mansur Rahman, Sayid Ali, Jamal, Madhab, Feroz, Akbar Sardar, Rais, Khalek Master, Gulum, Ishaque, Iliyas, Mansur (2), Momtaz, Tanjeb, Shamser, Hsan, Nowshad, Sattar, Jobbar, Jali, Rashid, Maqbul, Ansar, Moonser etc.
Rajab Ali: an Example of dedicated political element
I may not subscribe to political ideology or his philosophy, but I surely salute his dedication to AL. Here is an example how a political worker should behave. He set forth a model example.
Rajab Ali told us that his four brother including himself (Jahir, Achhir and Rais) are traditional supporters and sincere workers of AL. The villagers also testified their claim. Before the election BNP supporters of the village namely Chhamir, his wife Sajeda, Manjila, Yajuddi, Achhir, Anser etc. created heavy pressure on his family to
work for BNP candidate Janab Abu Hena. As the pressure did not work they filed a false case against them and induced the police to arrest Rajab. But he was released subsequently. He worked for AL candidate erstwhile state minister Jinatunnesa Talukdar. These made BNP supporters furious against Rajab Ali. As a consequence, his minor child Rajufa became the victim of revenge. Rajab Ali complained that guardians of the accuseds are threatening his family that if the case is not withdrawn they will cut hands and legs of mine and that of my nephew, and lift our eyes too. 'Who will give us protection' asked Rajab Ali. ''What we have not done for our Party (Awami League)? But not a single AL leader expressed any sympathy to us.' lamented Mr. Ali, a dedicated worker of AL. He was found weeping as he was narrating the story to Sangbad Reporter.As we moved around the village, we gathered some sensational information about the accuseds. On the day of event they assemble at the house of one BNP cadre Amzad and witnessed a blue film with a VCR- reported the villagers. The accuseds also acknowledged it. Then they went to the house of Rajab Ali and forcibly raped the child.
It is learnt that family of Ashraf is well to do having some landed property. He is the elder brother his two brothers. He read up to class V, and now a cosmetics-business man. Israfil family is also well to do and have some lands. He is youngest among his 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He is a student of class VI. Muke alias Mukles used to work at the house of one Akbar Ali and read up to class III. Rahimuddin also once worked at the house of Akbar. He is the eldest among his three brothers and read up to V.
Police seized the blood stained pyjama, bed sheets, and the TV set and VCR. But failed to discover the knife.
The local BNP secretary Abdur Razzak, and Organizing secretary Moklesur Rahman (also a local college teacher) sitting at the thana (Ps) head quarter with the OC; expressed their reaction on the gruesome event saying that they also want culprits to be punished. They claimed that accuseds are not any way connected with BNP or its associate organization(s). Those who are not even voters, how they could be members of Yubodal- the leaders posed a question?
