Assault in Christian Village under Chatmohar

Habibur Rahman Swapan Reports from Pabna: Although 4 days elapsed after the assault on the Christian villagers the real culprits are still at large. The police however, as they said, are trying hard to find the culprits. But the main performers of the drama are roaming about very freely. The Christian families are still in panic as they are being constantly threatened by the real culprits.

So far during 4 days police has arrested 8 persons, who although were connected with the incident, are not the real performers. The main accused Md. Shajahan Ali. Union Parisad Chairman local BNP union president is freely moving around. He is pressurizing not file any case against him.

Yesterday, the interior Minster directed the administration to take injured Subal Mandal to Dhaka for better treatment. The SP accordingly although made all preparation to shift him to Dhaka, at the last moment this has been postponed. It is alleged the minister didn't get time to finalize the matter. It is expected that this may be done today. Since he is to be shifted to Dhaka the security around the hospital was withdrawn. The SP however assured that this is just a temporary arrangement security arrangement will be made if Subal is not moved to Dhaka. SP further informed that two other persons in connection with the case were arrested yesterday. They are: Zaidur Rahman and Abdul Wahed. Shanto Parara, another injured person informed that local BNP leaders are asking them not to file any case against them. He further said that an uneasy state of affairs persisting in the locality; boys and girls are not attending schools.
