Jahed is right. That Sofa used to read the Koran immediately before his death is
not a good enough proof that he turned into a believer. That is why I used the
word 'probably'. Although he died within a month or two (as far as I remember),
had he really been contemplating such an early death? I don't know. He looked
pretty joyous and confident. We talked literature, philosophy, politics, and
what not. He used to read the Koran but did not say his prayers. Also he used to
drink bear during those days. So it is hard to draw any conclusion about his
religiosity during his last days.
Only thing that surprised me was his particular reading choice before
death---the Koran.
